10G and 1G Multi-mode transceiver distance based on Fiber Types

For multi-mode optical modules, physical distance is very much related to the cable type used in the scenario.

As we see from the table above, distance is related to the cable type used. A 300m distance can be achieved if OM3 fiber distance type cable is used, 50/125 micron, which allows reaching a Minimum Modal Bandwidth of 2000 MHz-km

As we can see from the above table that with 100M and GE SFP multi-mode modules on the same fiber type conditions (OM3 fiber distance, OM2…), we can achieve much higher distances than when using 10G optical modules.
