Intel allow_unsupported_sfp
If you would like to use a third-party optical module in Intel X500 or X700 series PCI cards, then you would need to issue the Intel allow_unsupported_sfp=1 configuration parameter. Without this command, there is a high chance that 3rd party optical modules will not be recognized and links will not be established.
In FreeBSD, in /boot/loader.conf.local put:
hw.ixgbe.unsupported_sfp=1In Linux, in /etc/modprobe.d/ixgbe.conf put:
options ixgbe allow_unsupported_sfp=1Windows has a similar option in the driver properties screen.

Network Interface Cards (NICs)
Network Interface Cards (NICs), also known as Network Adapters or Network Interface Controllers, are essential hardware components that connect servers and workstations to computer networks. These cards are widely deployed in Data Centers, Enterprise Networks, and Telecom environments for Storage, Virtualization, High-Performance Computing (HPC), Machine Learning, and Fast Frequency Trading applications. EDGE Optic Network Interface Cards utilize industry-leading Intel chipsets and follow PCI Express (PCIe) bus standards. Our portfolio supports data rates from 1G to 100G across both optical fiber (SFP, SFP+, SFP28, QSFP+, QSFP28) and copper RJ-45 connectivity options. All cards are compatible with major server brands and can serve as cost-effective alternatives to Intel, HPE, Dell, Lenovo, Cisco, Mellanox, and other OEM network cards with identical technical specifications. Every card ships with Low Profile and Full Height brackets for flexible installation, runs on most network operating systems, and carries CE, FCC, and RoHS compliance certifications. Our NICs support advanced features including load balancing across multiple CPUs, time synchronization (IEEE 1588), and various network protocols such as Ethernet, iSCSI, FCoE, and NFS—delivering enterprise-grade performance at competitive prices backed by our industry-leading warranty.
