25G LWDM SFP28 20km Industrial Transceiver Description

Our EDGEOPTIC LWDM-25G-SFP28-20I is a multi-vendor compatible industrial-grade 25G LWDM SFP28 dual-fiber optical module designed for extended-reach LAN-WDM 25 Gigabit Ethernet applications in harsh environmental conditions. The LWDM-25G-SFP28-20I module supports transmission across 12 LWDM channels (269-318) in the 1260-1360nm wavelength grid, with data rates from 2.46 to 25.78 Gbps supporting multiple protocol standards and applications. Our industrial 25G LWDM SFP28 transceiver utilizes DML (Directly Modulated Laser) technology for transmission and APD (Avalanche Photodiode) for receiving, engineered specifically for wavelength division multiplexing with extended reach in extreme temperature environments.

The transceiver ensures an 8 dB guaranteed optical link budget with host-based Forward Error Correction (FEC) support, which determines the maximum transmission distance capabilities. Over standard single-mode fiber (SMF), the module achieves reliable transmission up to 20 kilometers, making it ideal for industrial LWDM networks, outdoor 5G fronthaul deployments, and metropolitan applications requiring wavelength multiplexing in harsh conditions. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for convenience of identification – eventually we calculate distance taking into account minimal optical budget and average attenuation of optical cabling in industry standards. The robust LWDM architecture enables up to 12 channels of 25G traffic while maintaining 20km reach across extreme temperature variations.

LWDM-25G-SFP28-20I compatible industrial extended-reach LWDM module is hot-pluggable SFP28 with duplex LC/UPC connectors as an optical interface. The electrical interface conforms to SFF-8431, SFF-8472, CPRI-3/5/7, SFF-8432, and SFP28 MSA specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard SFP28 host systems supporting multiple vendor equipment platforms. Our industrial 25G LWDM SFP28 transceiver can be encoded to be compatible and successfully operate in different 80+ brands of equipment. The module incorporates comprehensive DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time information including transmitted and received optical power levels, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage. This diagnostic data is available via MSA-compatible EEPROM interface, enabling continuous monitoring of LWDM channel performance across extended distances and extreme temperature variations.

The module operates within an extended industrial temperature range of -45°C to +85°C, with maximum power consumption of 2W, specifically designed for deployment in uncontrolled environments including outdoor cabinets, remote cell sites, utility infrastructure, and transportation networks. The enhanced thermal design ensures stable DML laser operation with output power from 0 to 6 dBm and maintains the 3.5 dB minimum extinction ratio across all 12 LWDM channels while preserving 20km reach capability. The APD photodiode receiver delivers enhanced sensitivity of -14 dBm with precise 2.1nm LAN WDM wavelength bandwidth, providing reliable detection across the 1260-1360nm grid even at temperature extremes. The CPRI-3/5/7 compliance makes it particularly suitable for wireless fronthaul applications requiring extended reach in harsh conditions. The transceiver achieves multi-vendor interoperability through adherence to industry standards, though equipment with vendor-specific module validation may require custom EEPROM programming for compatibility.

Our industrial 25G LWDM SFP28 20km transceiver is CE/RoHS certified and compliant with Class 1 FDA and IEC60825-1 laser safety standards. Typical applications include outdoor 5G fronthaul networks leveraging CPRI capabilities, metropolitan industrial LWDM systems, smart city infrastructure, railway communications backbone, and mobile backhaul deployments requiring extended reach in extreme environments. The LWDM technology with 12 channels provides 300 Gbps aggregate capacity with simplified optical requirements compared to dense wavelength systems, ideal for industrial metropolitan deployments. The multi-rate capability from 2.46 Gbps accommodates various CPRI rates alongside 10G Ethernet (10.31 Gbps) and 25G Ethernet (25.78 Gbps) applications, providing exceptional versatility for converged industrial networks. Because our focus is providing top quality service, we perform extensive environmental testing including thermal cycling across all LWDM channels, vibration resistance, humidity exposure tests, wavelength stability verification, in addition to optical parameter measurements, connector cleanliness tests, and SFP28 transceiver EEPROM memory data validation tests.
