2x100GBASE-LR4 QSFP-DD Compatible Transceiver Description

Our EDGEOPTIC 2x100G-QDD-10 is a multi-vendor compatible 2x100GBASE-LR4 QSFP-DD optical module designed for dual 100 Gigabit Ethernet applications operating over single-mode fiber infrastructure. The 2x100G-QDD-10 module operates across eight LAN WDM wavelengths (1295.56, 1300.05, 1304.58, and 1309.14nm repeated for each 100G channel), delivering aggregate data rates up to 206.25 Gbps using NRZ modulation and supporting flexible 2x100G Ethernet breakout configurations. Our 2x100GBASE-LR4 QSFP-DD transceiver utilizes DFB (Distributed Feedback) laser technology for transmission and PIN photodiode arrays for receiving, engineered for long-reach enterprise and metro network deployments.

The transceiver ensures a 6.3 dB guaranteed optical link budget, which determines the maximum transmission distance capabilities. Over standard single-mode fiber, the transceiver reliably reaches distances up to 10 kilometers, making it ideal for campus interconnects, metro area networks, and extended data center connectivity. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for convenience of identification – ultimately we calculate reach taking into account minimal optical budget and average attenuation of optical cabling in industry standards. The module's dual CS duplex connector architecture with tightly spaced 1310nm-region wavelengths enables efficient spectral utilization while maintaining compatibility with standard fiber infrastructure.

2x100G-QDD-10 compatible module is a hot-pluggable QSFP-DD with dual CS duplex connectors as the optical interface, supporting high-density deployments and flexible breakout configurations in modern network architectures. The electrical interface conforms to QSFP-DD MSA and SFF-8665 specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard QSFP-DD host systems supporting multiple vendor equipment platforms. Our 2x100GBASE-LR4 QSFP-DD transceiver can be encoded to be compatible and successfully operate in different 80+ brands of networking equipment. The module incorporates comprehensive DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time operational data including transmitted and received optical power levels per wavelength channel, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage monitoring. This diagnostic data is accessible via CMIS V4.0 compliant interface, enabling proactive network management and performance optimization.

The module operates within a 0 to 70°C temperature range with 8W maximum power consumption, designed for reliable operation in demanding network environments. Standards compliance includes IEEE 802.3ba and IEEE 802.3bm for 100GBASE-LR4, along with QSFP-DD MSA specifications ensuring broad platform interoperability. The transceiver's LAN WDM technology centered around 1310nm provides excellent chromatic dispersion tolerance for extended reach applications. Our QSFP-DD transceiver achieves multi-vendor compatibility through adherence to industry MSA standards, though equipment with vendor-specific module validation may require custom EEPROM programming for seamless integration. The module is CE/RoHS certified and compliant with international product safety standards.

Typical applications include metropolitan area network backbones, carrier-grade transport networks, data center interconnect solutions, and enterprise campus core infrastructure. The 2x100GBASE-LR4 capability with 10km reach provides operational flexibility for network scalability while eliminating the need for optical amplification in most deployment scenarios. The dual 100G architecture enables efficient bandwidth allocation and service provisioning in software-defined networking environments. Because our focus is providing top quality service, we perform rigorous quality checks before delivery of our products. As a result, we conduct optical parameter measurements across all LAN WDM wavelengths, connector cleanliness tests, and QSFP-DD transceiver EEPROM memory data validation tests.
