2x100GBASE-SR4 QSFP-DD Compatible Transceiver Description
Our EDGEOPTIC 2x100G-QDD-100 is a multi-vendor compatible 2x100GBASE-SR4 QSFP-DD optical module designed for high-density 200G Ethernet applications operating over multimode fiber infrastructure. The 2x100G-QDD-100 module operates at 850nm wavelength for both transmission and reception across dual 4-channel arrays, delivering aggregate data rates up to 206.25 Gbps using NRZ modulation and supporting flexible 2x100G Ethernet breakout configurations. Our 2x100GBASE-SR4 QSFP-DD transceiver utilizes VCSEL (Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) technology for transmission and PIN photodiode arrays for receiving, optimized for short-reach data center interconnects.
The transceiver ensures a 1.9 dB guaranteed optical link budget, which determines the maximum transmission distance capabilities. Over OM4 and OM5 multimode fiber, the transceiver reliably reaches distances up to 100 meters, while OM3 cabling supports shorter reach deployments. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for convenience of identification – ultimately we calculate reach taking into account minimal optical budget and average attenuation of optical cabling in industry standards. The module's 16-fiber architecture utilizing MTP/MPO-24 UPC connectors enables efficient parallel optics transmission across eight lanes per direction.
2x100G-QDD-100 compatible module is a hot-pluggable QSFP-DD with MTP/MPO-24 connector as the optical interface, supporting high-density fiber management in modern data centers. The electrical interface conforms to QSFP-DD MSA and SFF-8665 specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard QSFP-DD host systems supporting multiple vendor equipment platforms. Our 2x100GBASE-SR4 QSFP-DD transceiver can be encoded to be compatible and successfully operate in different 80+ brands of networking equipment. The module incorporates comprehensive DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time operational data including transmitted and received optical power levels per channel, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage monitoring. This diagnostic data is accessible via CMIS V4.0 compliant interface, enabling proactive network management and troubleshooting.
The module operates within a 0 to 70°C temperature range with 4W maximum power consumption, optimized for energy-efficient operation in high-density switch deployments. Standards compliance includes IEEE 802.3bm for 100 Gigabit Ethernet, along with QSFP-DD MSA specifications ensuring broad interoperability. The transceiver achieves multi-vendor compatibility through adherence to industry MSA standards, though equipment with vendor-specific module validation may require custom EEPROM programming for seamless integration. Our QSFP-DD transceiver is CE/RoHS certified and compliant with product safety standards.
Typical applications include spine-leaf data center architectures, high-performance computing clusters, cloud infrastructure deployments, and hyperscale network aggregation. The 2x100G capability provides operational flexibility for network disaggregation and efficient bandwidth utilization in modern software-defined infrastructures. Because our focus is providing top quality service, we perform rigorous quality checks before delivery of our products. As a result, we conduct optical parameter measurements, connector cleanliness tests, and QSFP-DD transceiver EEPROM memory data validation tests.
