NOKIA (Alcatel) compatible QSFP-40G-LR Description

EdgeOptic's QSFP-40G-LR compatible is a Nokia (Alcatel-Lucent)-coded 40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+ transceiver built to the EdgeOptic 40G-QSFP-10 multi-vendor platform spec. It reaches 10 km over single-mode fiber using four CWDM channels at 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm, terminated on a duplex LC connector. The module carries a Nokia-recognized EEPROM so Nokia 7750 SR and 7250 IXR service-router ports bring it up cleanly.

The transmitter uses a DFB laser with a per-lane launch power of −6 to +3 dBm. The PIN-photodiode receiver holds a sensitivity of −12.6 dBm per lane with an overload point of +3 dBm, giving a 6.6 dB link budget across the four CWDM lanes. NRZ modulation supports a serviced rate up to 44.8 Gbps. DOM telemetry reports temperature, supply voltage, laser bias, transmit power and receive power over the I2C interface for live diagnostics. The module operates across the 0 to 70 °C commercial range.

Beyond 40GbE (41.25 Gbps), Nokia service-router and transport platforms can also carry OTN and SONET/SDH client traffic on OTN-capable ports. On those ports the optic also supports OTU3 (43.01 Gbps), OTU3e2 (44.58 Gbps) and STM-256 (39.81 Gbps). OTN client framing depends on the line card and port configuration, so verify the rate against your Nokia platform's transceiver compatibility table before deployment.

Built to IEEE 802.3ba Clause 87, INF-8438i and the SFF-8436 QSFP+ MSA, the module is a drop-in match for the Nokia QSFP-40G-LR optical specification. Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I confirm the correct Nokia part number for the QSFP-40G-LR on my platform?

Nokia lists 40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+ optics under more than one ordering code depending on the platform and software release. The QSFP-40G-LR and 3HE06485AA codes both describe 40GBASE-LR4 LC duplex 10 km QSFP+ modules. Check which orderable part number your Nokia platform's transceiver ordering guide specifies for your line card, and order the code your port list calls for.
