400G OSFP to QSFP-DD Active Optical Cable (0.5-100m) Description
Our EDGEOPTIC 400G-AOC-OSFP-QSFP-DD is a multi-vendor compatible 400G active optical cable designed for high-performance 400 Gigabit Ethernet and InfiniBand HDR applications requiring extended reach beyond passive copper solutions. The cable features a point-to-point configuration with an OSFP connector on one end and a QSFP-DD connector on the other, enabling seamless 400G connectivity between different interface types in modern data center, cloud, and HPC environments.
The cable supports data rates from 212.5 to 425 Gbps, enabling full 400G Ethernet operation at up to 425 Gbps. It is also suitable for InfiniBand HDR applications, providing high-bandwidth, low-latency interconnects for compute clusters, AI/ML infrastructure, and high-density switching environments. This makes it well suited for inter-switch links, server-to-switch connections, and scalable high-performance deployments.
The 400G-AOC-OSFP-QSFP-DD operates at an 850 nm wavelength using VCSEL laser technology for transmission and a PIN photodiode for reception. It utilizes multimode fiber (MMF) with OM3 support and is designed for distances up to 100 meters. The integrated fiber design eliminates the need for separate transceivers and patch cables, simplifying installation and reducing maintenance complexity.
The cable supports host-based Forward Error Correction (FEC), improving signal integrity and reducing bit error rates in high-speed environments. As an active optical solution, it is immune to electromagnetic interference and offers a lightweight, flexible alternative to copper cabling, improving cable management and airflow in dense rack deployments.
Operating from a +3.3V single power supply with typical power consumption of up to 8W, the cable conforms to OSFP and QSFP-DD MSA specifications, ensuring interoperability with equipment from multiple vendors. It also supports DDM/DOM functionality, enabling real-time monitoring of key parameters such as optical power, temperature, and voltage.
Designed for operation within a standard temperature range of 0 to 70°C, the cable is suitable for controlled data center environments. With an MTBF rating of 1,000,000 hours, it provides reliable long-term performance for mission-critical applications. Typical use cases include 400G interconnects between switches, high-speed server connectivity, and scalable deployments in cloud, AI, and high-performance computing infrastructures.
