Arista compatible QDD-400G-LR4 Description
EdgeOptic's QDD-400G-LR4 compatible is an Arista-coded version of the EdgeOptic 400G-QSFP-DD-11 multi-vendor 400GBASE-LR4 QSFP-DD transceiver. It carries 400 Gigabit Ethernet over a duplex single-mode fiber pair for reaches up to 10 km, replacing the Arista QDD-400G-LR4 in data-center switching links without any change to the host configuration.
IEEE 802.3bs defines the 400GbE electrical and rate envelope; the LR4 optical PMD follows the 100G Lambda MSA 400G-LR4-10 specification. The module multiplexes four CWDM optical lanes at 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm onto a single fiber pair, terminated with a duplex LC/UPC connector. Carrying all four wavelengths over one duplex fiber pair lets the link reuse installed single-mode plant without pulling additional fiber strands. The host side runs eight 50G PAM4 electrical lanes under CMIS 4.0, and host RS(544,514) KP4 forward error correction is required on both ends of the link.
The transmitter uses EML lasers with an average launch power between −2.8 and +4 dBm per lane and a minimum extinction ratio of 3.5 dB. The PIN receiver provides a per-lane sensitivity of −9.1 dBm and an overload point of +4.5 dBm, giving a 7.1 dB average link budget across a 10 km span of G.652 single-mode fiber. Integrated clock and data recovery cleans the signal in both directions, and digital diagnostic monitoring reports temperature, supply voltage, laser bias, and per-lane optical power through the standard CMIS registers.
The module operates over a 0 to 70 °C commercial temperature range and draws up to 9 W. It works on Arista EOS switches with 400G QSFP-DD ports and on other vendor platforms that expose a QSFP-DD cage at 400GbE. The optic is 400GbE only and does not carry Fibre Channel, OTN, or SONET traffic. Confirm the cage and host FEC settings against the switch transceiver documentation before deployment, and verify both ends of the link are set to the same FEC mode during commissioning.
Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms, the QDD-400G-LR4 compatible is made to order on a 2-week lead time and ships with a lifetime warranty. For volume pricing or deployment questions, contact our sales team.
