Arista QSFP-100G-LRL4 Compatible 2km LR4 Lite QSFP28 Module (Full LR4 Power Budget)

EdgeOptic's QSFP-100G-LRL4 compatible is an Arista-coded 100G QSFP28 transceiver that replaces the OEM Arista QSFP-100G-LRL4 in the same socket. QSFP-100G-LRL4 is the Arista part number for a 2 km reduced-power-budget 100GBASE-LR4 client optic, sometimes referenced as LR4 Lite, defined by Arista as a vendor specification rather than an IEEE 802.3ba compliance level. The OEM module is intended for short campus and intra-data-centre runs where the full 10 km LR4 budget is unnecessary and the lower-cost optic is preferable. EdgeOptic's compatible is built on our 100G-QSFP28-10 hardware platform, which carries the full 100GBASE-LR4 power budget; the unit drops into any port that accepts the Arista QSFP-100G-LRL4 ordering code while delivering the headroom to operate over the standard LR4 budget when the plant requires it.

Arista's QSFP-100G-LRL4 specification uses the same 4-channel LAN-WDM wavelength grid as standard LR4: 1295.56, 1300.05, 1304.58 and 1309.14 nm. Each lane carries 25.78125 Gbps NRZ on a single duplex LC SMF pair for an aggregate 103.125 Gbps line rate. The OEM module's reduced power budget targets the 2 km reach figure Arista publishes for the LRL4 ordering code. EdgeOptic's compatible runs on our LR4-class hardware: TX power and RX sensitivity match the IEEE 802.3ba 100GBASE-LR4 envelope rather than the LRL4 reduced envelope, so the same SKU covers both LRL4 socket compatibility and standard LR4 link budget on the wire.

Each unit ships with Arista-recognised EEPROM values pre-programmed, so the module identifies on Arista EOS through the standard transceiver detection path without requiring the service unsupported-transceiver override on the platforms QSFP-100G-LRL4 is qualified for. The QSFP28 form factor follows MSA SFF-8665, with hot-plug operation on a live Arista chassis and DDM/DOM telemetry through SFF-8636 exposing per-lane TX and RX optical power, module temperature, supply voltage and laser bias current. The duplex LC connector accepts standard SMF patch cords, and the commercial 0 to 70 °C operating temperature range covers typical campus and POP environments. Module power draw is up to 4.0 W per published LRL4 specifications.

Arista lists QSFP-100G-LRL4 against 100G QSFP28 ports on the 7050 series, 7280 series and 7500 series switching platforms. The exact set of qualified line cards and EOS releases varies by model and software train. Note that QSFP-100G-LR4 (10 km IEEE 802.3ba standard) and QSFP-100G-PLRL4 (parallel single-mode with MPO connector) are separate Arista ordering codes for different optical specifications and are not interchangeable with QSFP-100G-LRL4 against a BOM line.
