Arista compatible SFP-10G-RA-1G-LX Description
The EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 is a compatible replacement for the Arista SFP-10G-RA-1G-LX rate-adaptive transceiver. This module operates at 1000BASE-LX (1 Gbps) in Arista SFP+ ports that would otherwise require 10G optics. It transmits at 1310nm over single-mode fiber with a duplex LC connector, reaching up to 10km. Arista EEPROM coded for native recognition in EOS.
The original Arista SFP-10G-RA-1G-LX is a 1G optic in SFP+ form factor — the “RA” stands for rate-adaptive. Arista switches with only SFP+ slots need this module type to establish 1G links to legacy equipment, server NICs, or out-of-band management connections over single-mode fiber. The EdgeOptic replacement is dual-rate capable, supporting both 1.25 Gbps (1000BASE-LX) and 10.3125 Gbps (10GBASE-LR) depending on port configuration.
This module is compatible with Arista 7050X/X2/X3/X4, 7060X/X2/X4/X5, 7280R/R2/R3, and 7020R series switches. Rate-adaptive operation requires a supported EOS version — check the Arista hardware compatibility matrix for your specific platform. The switch port auto-detects the optic speed or can be set manually with the “speed 1000full” interface command.
Arista does not hard-lock third-party optics. EOS may log an “unsupported transceiver” message for unrecognized modules, but the port operates normally. Compatible modules with Arista EEPROM coding are recognized without warnings and report DDM data through “show interfaces transceiver.”
Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) is supported per SFF-8472. The module reports TX/RX optical power, temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage. CE/RoHS certified, commercial temperature range (0 to 70 °C).

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between SFP-10G-RA-1G-LX and SFP-1G-LX?
Both operate at 1000BASE-LX (1 Gbps, 1310nm, 10km SMF). SFP-1G-LX uses the standard SFP form factor and fits native 1G SFP slots. SFP-10G-RA-1G-LX uses the SFP+ form factor and fits 10G SFP+ slots. If your Arista switch only has SFP+ ports and you need a 1G link, you need the RA variant.
Do I need to configure anything on the Arista switch for 1G operation?
On most Arista EOS platforms, inserting an RA optic triggers automatic speed negotiation to 1G. If the link does not come up, set the port speed manually with “speed 1000full” in interface configuration mode. Check your EOS release notes for RA optic support on your specific switch model.
Can this module also run at 10G?
The EdgeOptic replacement module is dual-rate and supports both 1G (1000BASE-LX) and 10G (10GBASE-LR). If the switch port is configured for 10G, the module operates at 10.3125 Gbps. This gives flexibility to upgrade the link speed later without swapping optics.
