Aruba compatible J9151E Description
The EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 is a compatible replacement for the HPE Aruba J9151E 10GBASE-LR SFP+ transceiver. It supports 10GBASE-LR connectivity at 1310nm over single-mode fiber, reaching up to 10km through a duplex LC/UPC connector. The module is EEPROM coded for HPE Aruba platforms and recognized in ArubaOS environments without error messages.
TX side is a 1310nm DFB laser; RX side is a PIN photodiode. The module guarantees a 6dB optical link budget over G.652 single-mode fiber. Line rate is 10.3125 Gbps with 64B/66B encoding per IEEE 802.3ae. The module also supports 1G Ethernet (1.25 Gbps) for dual-rate operation on platforms that support SFP+ dual-rate mode.

The J9151A uses older HP ProCurve encoding for legacy platforms such as the 5400zl (E-series chassis). The J9151D targets newer Aruba CX platforms such as the 6200, 6300, and 6400 series. All three are optically identical — the only difference is the EEPROM vendor coding.
DDM per SFF-8472 reports TX/RX optical power, laser bias current, temperature, and supply voltage. Compliant with SFF-8431 (electrical) and IEEE 802.3ae (optical). Class 1 laser safe per IEC 60825-1. CE and RoHS certified. Commercial temperature range: 0°C to 70°C.
The J9151E operates over standard OS2 single-mode fiber. Minimum link length is 2 meters to avoid receiver saturation; use an inline optical attenuator for shorter patch cables. The module supports hot-swappable insertion in SFP+ cage types.
