Aruba compatible JH232A Description

EdgeOptic's JH232A compatible is an HPE Aruba-coded version of the EdgeOptic 40G-QSFP-10 multi-vendor 40GBASE-LR4 transceiver. It carries the X142 family EEPROM that ArubaOS-CX and ArubaOS-Switch platforms read, so it registers as a recognized 40G QSFP+ module in Aruba switching without a manual override.

The module follows the 40GBASE-LR4 standard, IEEE 802.3ba Clause 87. Four CWDM lanes at 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm multiplex onto one LC duplex single-mode pair, reaching 10 km over OS2 fiber with a 6.6 dB link budget. A DFB laser drives each lane at −6 to +3 dBm; the PIN receiver holds −12.6 dBm per-lane sensitivity and tolerates up to +3 dBm overload. Operating range is 0 to 70 °C and digital diagnostic monitoring is supported.

JH232A is the HPE Aruba X142 part and works in HPE Aruba switching platforms. It carries 40 Gigabit Ethernet only, which suits ArubaOS-CX campus switching where no SONET, SDH or OTN framer is present. The X142 is a separate part from the HPE Comware X140 (JG661A); the two use different EEPROM coding for different switch OS families and aren't interchangeable. Confirm both ends of the link run the same 40GBASE-LR4 lane plan during commissioning.
