Aruba compatible JL310A Description
JL310A is the Aruba (HPE) part number for a 100GBASE-LR4 QSFP28 optical transceiver. Our compatible version uses the same base module as our 100G-QSFP28-10 product, built to MSA specifications with Aruba-specific EEPROM programming.
The module transmits 100GbE over single-mode fiber using LAN WDM technology. Four wavelength channels at 1295.56, 1300.05, 1304.58, and 1309.14 nm each carry 25.78125 Gbps with NRZ modulation, for an aggregate line rate of 103.125 Gbps. The transmitter uses an EML (Electro-absorption Modulated Laser) array and the receiver a PIN photodiode array. The four channels are multiplexed within the 1310 nm window and carried over a single duplex LC fiber pair.
The module provides a minimum optical link budget of 6.3 dB per IEEE 802.3ba, which supports distances up to 10 km over OS2 (G.652.D) single-mode fiber. Actual distance depends on your fiber attenuation and connector losses. The dual LC/UPC connector interface works with standard SMF patch cords and structured cabling.
Digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM/DOM) provides real-time readings of transmitted and received optical power, module temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage through the SFF-8636 management interface. The module has no internal FEC engine, but is fully transparent to host-side RS-FEC (IEEE 802.3bj Clause 91) running in the switch ASIC. The module conforms to the QSFP28 MSA (SFF-8665) and presents a CAUI-4 host electrical interface (4x25G NRZ lanes per IEEE 802.3bj Clause 83). Operating temperature is 0 to 70°C with maximum power consumption of 3.5W.
Our module is programmed with Aruba-specific EEPROM data and has been compatibility-tested on ArubaOS-CX platforms including the CX 8320, CX 8325, and CX 8360 series switches. It works in any Aruba switch that lists JL310A in its supported transceiver table. We can also supply the module coded for other vendors; contact our sales team if you need alternative platform coding.
The transceiver meets IEEE 802.3ba and IEEE 802.3bm 100GBASE-LR4 requirements and conforms to the QSFP28 MSA (SFF-8665, IEEE 802.3ba 100GBASE-LR4). It is CE/RoHS certified and compliant with Class 1 FDA and IEC 60825-1 laser safety standards. We measure optical parameters and inspect connectors on every unit before shipment. EEPROM data is validated against the Aruba platform configuration. If you need technical consultation or a volume price for your project, contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Aruba switches support JL310A?
JL310A is supported on Aruba ArubaOS-CX switches with QSFP28 ports, including the CX 8320, CX 8325, and CX 8360 series. Check HPE’s transceiver compatibility matrix for your specific switch model and ArubaOS-CX version.
Does the compatible JL310A work natively on Aruba switches?
In our testing, the module is recognized on Aruba ArubaOS-CX platforms without requiring unsupported-transceiver override commands. We recommend verifying against your specific ArubaOS-CX firmware version.
Is JL310A the same as JL275A?
Both are HPE part numbers for 100GBASE-LR4 QSFP28 modules. JL310A is the Aruba-branded ordering code for ArubaOS-CX switches, while JL275A is used in HPE FlexNetwork documentation. They are coded for different switch platforms, so do not substitute one for the other without verifying compatibility.
