Aruba compatible JL563A Description
EdgeOptic's JL563A compatible is an Aruba-coded 10GBASE-T SFP+ transceiver built as a direct replacement for the HPE Aruba JL563A. EEPROM is coded so both AOS-CX and legacy ArubaOS-Switch platforms that support JL-series 10GBASE-T optics recognise the module as a genuine Aruba part.
The module delivers 10GBASE-T over RJ45 up to 30 metres on Cat6a copper, with the standard SFF-8431 SFP+ MSA electrical interface and IEEE 802.3an for 10G. Operating temperature is 0 to 65 °C, with CE and RoHS certification. Per Aruba documentation, the JL563A operates at 10G speed only. It does not auto-negotiate down to 1G for 1000BASE-T endpoints, so any mixed-speed access requirement must use a different Aruba transceiver or switch port configuration.
Confirmed host platforms include the Aruba CX 6300 series (including the JL658A 24-port SFP+ model), CX 8325 data centre switches, CX 6200 campus access, and CX 8100 aggregation. The CX 6300M chassis is thermally certified to support JL563A on all populated SFP+ ports at full density, relevant for copper 10G consolidation projects. JL563A is not listed as a supported host for Aruba 2930M or 3810M, and the JL083A uplink module on 2930M is not a valid host either; Airheads community threads and MVP guidance confirm this, and it remains a recurring buyer mistake. Sites running 2930M, 3810M, or similar ArubaOS-Switch access layers need a different transceiver.
DOM telemetry is reported through standard Aruba CLI 'show interface transceiver detail' and AOS-CX dashboards including Aruba NetEdit and Aruba Central, with case temperature and electrical status available from the DDM registers. Match the specific AOS-CX or ArubaOS-Switch version against the current Aruba Transceiver Guide before deploying the module into production.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is JL563A compatible with Aruba 2930M or 3810M, or the JL083A uplink module?
No. Aruba community guidance and Aruba MVP confirmations state that JL563A is not compatible with the Aruba 2930M or 3810M campus switches, and the JL083A uplink module for 2930M does not accept JL563A either. Sites on 2930M or 3810M access layers need a different copper transceiver qualified for those chassis. JL563A is supported on AOS-CX platforms such as CX 6300, CX 8325, CX 6200, and CX 8100.
Does JL563A auto-negotiate to 1G, or does it operate at 10G only?
10G only. Aruba documentation states explicitly that the JL563 series operates at 10G speed and does not auto-negotiate down to 1G. A 1G endpoint on the far side will not link up. For access-layer ports that need both 10G and 1G on the same host cage, use a different Aruba transceiver that supports 1G fallback, or a switch model that permits per-port speed forcing on 10GBASE-T cages.
