Aruba compatible JL563A Description
EdgeOptic's JL563A compatible is an Aruba-coded 10GBASE-T SFP+ copper transceiver for HPE Aruba CX 6300, CX 8325, CX 6200, and CX 8100 AOS-CX switches. The EEPROM is programmed with HPE Aruba vendor identity so AOS-CX recognises the module under its standard transceiver guidance, with DOM data surfacing in the Aruba CLI without manual qualification.
The module delivers 10GBASE-T over RJ45 up to 30 m on Cat 6a or Cat 7 copper, with the standard SFF-8431 SFP+ MSA electrical interface and IEEE 802.3an for 10G. Operating temperature is 0 to 65 °C, with CE and RoHS certification. Per Aruba documentation the JL563A operates at 10G speed only. It does not auto-negotiate down to 1G for 1000BASE-T endpoints, so any mixed-speed access requirement must use a different Aruba transceiver or a host port configured for 1G separately.
Confirmed host platforms include the Aruba CX 6300 series (including the JL658A 24-port SFP+ model, thermally rated for full-density JL563A population), CX 8325 data centre switches, CX 6200 campus access, and CX 8100. JL563A is not listed as a supported host for the Aruba 2930M or 3810M, and the JL083A uplink module on 2930M is not a valid host either; Airheads community guidance and Aruba MVP confirmations call this out as a recurring buyer mistake. Sites running 2930M, 3810M, or similar ArubaOS-Switch access layers need a different transceiver.
DOM telemetry is reported through the Aruba 'show interface transceiver detail' CLI and AOS-CX dashboards, including Aruba NetEdit and Aruba Central, with case temperature and electrical status available from the standard DDM registers. Match the AOS-CX version against the current Aruba Transceiver Guide before deploying the module into production.
Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical and copper SFP+ platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty. For bulk pricing, lead time confirmation, or validation against a specific Aruba CX model, contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is JL563A compatible with Aruba 2930M or 3810M, or the JL083A uplink module?
No. Aruba community guidance and Aruba MVP confirmations state that JL563A is not compatible with the Aruba 2930M or 3810M campus switches, and the JL083A uplink module for 2930M does not accept JL563A either. Sites on 2930M or 3810M access layers need a different copper transceiver qualified for those chassis. JL563A is supported on AOS-CX platforms such as CX 6300, CX 8325, CX 6200, and CX 8100.
Does JL563A auto-negotiate to 1G, or does it operate at 10G only?
10G only. Aruba documentation states explicitly that the JL563 series operates at 10G speed and does not auto-negotiate down to 1G. A 1G endpoint on the far side will not link up. For access-layer ports that need both 10G and 1G on the same host cage, use a different Aruba transceiver that supports 1G fallback, or a switch model that permits per-port speed forcing on 10GBASE-T cages.
What is the difference between JL563A and JL563B?
JL563A and JL563B are sibling Aruba SKUs of the same Aruba 10GBASE-T SFP+ RJ45 30 m Cat 6a transceiver, differentiated by EEPROM and hardware revision. The HPE Store lists both at the same 30 m spec over Cat 6a; the '80 m' figure that appears on a few third-party listings refers to a separate extended-reach variant (JL563A-80) and is not the standard JL563A or JL563B. Match the SKU on the original purchase order or AOS-CX inventory record when ordering a replacement, and use the corresponding EdgeOptic compatible page for that suffix.
