Aruba compatible R9F75A Description
EdgeOptic's R9F75A compatible is an HPE Aruba-coded 100GBASE-SR4 version of the EdgeOptic 100G-QSFP28-100 multi-vendor 100GBASE-SR4 transceiver, one universal short-reach module coded for a range of switch and router vendors. It runs 100G Ethernet over four parallel 850 nm VCSEL lanes at 25G each across multimode fiber, terminated on an MTP/MPO-12 (UPC) connector using 8 active fibers, 4 transmit and 4 receive. The transceiver port is female (unpinned); the patch cable is the pinned male side, so transceiver-to-transceiver runs need a male-to-male Type B MPO assembly. Reach is 70 m over OM3 and 100 m over OM4, per IEEE 802.3bm Clause 95.
Optical specifications include a 1.9 dB average link budget, receiver sensitivity of −10.3 dBm per lane, NRZ modulation, and no FEC at this reach. The transmitter uses 850 nm VCSEL lasers; the receiver is a PIN photodiode. OM4 supports the full 100 m while OM3 is rated to 70 m, with achievable distance depending on patch panels, splices, and connector cleanliness in the installed link. SR4 does not run over OM1 or OM2 fiber. DDM/DOM is supported per SFF-8636, so the host can read per-lane transmit power, receive power, and bias along with module-level temperature and voltage. The module operates across the 0°C to 70°C commercial range, draws up to 3.5 W within the QSFP28 envelope, and is compliant with the QSFP28 MSA and SFF-8665. This is a 100G Ethernet short-reach optic for campus switching; it does not carry Fibre Channel, OTN, or SONET traffic.
The R-prefix marks R9F75A as an Aruba campus switching transceiver for the ArubaOS-CX and ArubaOS-Switch platforms, distinct from the EdgeConnect SD-WAN optics that carry the EC- prefix. EdgeOptic codes this compatible with Aruba-recognized EEPROM so the switch reads it as a supported transceiver. It works across the Aruba switching platform family; confirm the specific switch model against the HPE Aruba transceiver guide before deployment, since select ArubaOS-CX switch models support 4x25G breakout on their 100G QSFP28 ports. Typical roles include campus aggregation and data center top-of-rack uplinks.
Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty. For project pricing or technical consultation, contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the R9F75A compatible work on both ArubaOS-CX and ArubaOS-Switch platforms?
R9F75A is an Aruba campus switching transceiver covered by the HPE Aruba transceiver guide for both ArubaOS-CX and ArubaOS-Switch families. EdgeOptic codes this compatible with Aruba-recognized EEPROM so the switch reads it as supported. Switch model and port support vary by platform, so verify the specific model against the HPE Aruba transceiver guide before deployment.
