AFCT-91FRDDZ is Avago's 400GBASE-FR4 QSFP-DD -- now under Broadcom Inc. after the 2016 acquisition. The AFCT- prefix originates from Avago's fiber optic product line and remains the primary search term among engineers. EdgeOptic's compatible matches the original module's specifications.

Four CWDM wavelengths (1271/1291/1311/1331 nm), EML transmitters, PIN receivers. PAM4 modulation, 106.25 Gbps per lane, 400G aggregate throughput. LC duplex connector over OS2 single-mode fiber, 2 km maximum reach. Budget: 4.0 dB (TX -3.3 to +3.5 dBm, RX -7.3 dBm). DOM supported for real-time optical monitoring. KP4 FEC (RS(544,514)) required on the host. Under 11W power consumption. The module uses 400GAUI-8 electrical signaling toward the host ASIC. 0 to 70 C commercial operating temperature. Avago acquired Broadcom Corporation in 2016, then renamed the combined company Broadcom Inc. The AFCT-91FRDDZ was originally an Avago SKU -- it appears under both brand names in documentation and distributor listings. Broadcom's datasheet is still marked preliminary (Rev 0.8, September 2019), which indicates the product's lifecycle status. OEM availability through Broadcom distribution can be limited and pricing tends to reflect the constrained supply.

Important clarification: some third-party listings incorrectly claim the AFCT-91FRDDZ uses MTP/MPO connectors. This is wrong -- it's FR4, LC duplex. FR4 multiplexes four CWDM wavelengths on a single fiber pair through the LC connector. DR4 uses MPO for parallel lanes on separate fibers. Different module, different connector, different fiber infrastructure.

The original AFCT-91FRDDZ was an OEM component used across multiple switch and router platforms. EdgeOptic codes the compatible for Cisco, Arista, Juniper, HPE, and others.
