2-Channel Single Fiber CWDM OADM Overview
Our 2-channel single fiber CWDM OADM unit enables wavelength add/drop from both network directions simultaneously. Adding or dropping 2 BiDi data channels (4 CWDM wavelengths), this two-sided passive unit delivers below 1.8 dB insertion loss and 2.2 dB express channel loss. Compact LGX form factor with LC/UPC connectors for ring topology networks.

2 Channels Single Fiber Passive CWDM OADM Unit Description
2 Channels Single Fiber Passive CWDM OADM Unit – SCAD-2 is a member of the EDGE Optics xWDM Series product line. We designed EDGE Optics xWDM Series products to allow easy, gradual, logical, and cost-efficient expansion of network bandwidth using industry-leading passive WDM technology. The main advantage of xWDM is its passive nature – no power supply or cooling necessary, robustness with no special micro-climate requirements, and as a passive element, it has an MTBF of 100+ years. xWDM is fully data rate and line protocol neutral – it is possible to use with colored transceivers supporting applications such as 1G/10G Ethernet, SDH/SONET, and 8/4/2/1G Fiber Channel. It is simple to install and requires no configuration or maintenance. SCAD-2 is a passive two-sided (East and West) Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer (OADM) package based on Thin-Film Filter (TFF) technology, allowing extraction and addition of 2 data streams (4 wavelengths) from ITU-T G.694.2 compatible Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplex (CWDM) link. The unit features LC/UPC connectors. SCAD-2 is manufactured as an LGX-type package, installed in a 19" 1U sub-rack fitting any standard equipment rack.
