The EdgeOptic SCMD-9A is the Side A half of a 9-channel single fiber passive CWDM multiplexer/demultiplexer, housed in an LGX cassette with LC/UPC connectors. It carries nine Side A channels of the system's 18 optical channels on one fiber, completed by its SCMD-9B counterpart at the far end.

The unit uses CCWDM (Compact CWDM, free space) filter technology on a 20 nm channel grid with a passband of plus or minus 6.5 nm. Insertion loss is 1.9 dB across the passband, with a 1% monitor port at 23 dB. Isolation is 30 dB adjacent and 40 dB non adjacent, with 0.3 dB passband ripple and 0.2 dB polarization dependent loss (PDL). Maximum power handling is 500 mW; operating range is 0 to 70 degrees C; MTBF is 1,000,000 hours. Compliance covers CE, ISO, RoHS and ITU-T G.694.2.
