Our EDGEOPTIC BIDI-25GFH-SFP28-40A is a multi-vendor compatible 25G Fronthaul BiDi SFP28 single-fiber optical module designed for long-distance fiber-efficient mobile fronthaul applications in 5G and LTE network deployments. Utilizing bidirectional technology over a single strand of single-mode fiber with reach up to 30 kilometers, this transceiver effectively doubles fiber capacity while enabling connectivity across regional fronthaul networks requiring extended reach.

The BIDI-25GFH-SFP28-40A module transmits at 1270nm wavelength and receives at 1330nm wavelength, supporting data rates from 8.5 to 28.1 Gbps. This multi-rate capability enables compatibility with various CPRI (Common Public Radio Interface) options including CPRI Option 7 at 9.830 Gbps, Option 8 at 10.138 Gbps, Option 9 at 12.165 Gbps, and Option 10 at 24.33 Gbps. The transceiver explicitly supports eCPRI protocols alongside legacy CPRI standards and includes host-based Forward Error Correction for enhanced signal integrity across long-haul fronthaul distances. This A-Side module must be paired with a complementary B-Side transceiver (BIDI-25GFH-SFP28-40B) operating at opposite wavelengths to establish a complete bidirectional link.

Our 25G Fronthaul BiDi SFP28 long-reach transceiver utilizes DML (Directly Modulated Laser) technology for transmission and APD (Avalanche Photodiode) for signal reception. The APD receiver technology provides significantly enhanced sensitivity compared to PIN-based alternatives, which is essential for maintaining reliable single-fiber links over extended distances. The module ensures an 18 dB guaranteed optical link budget, enabling transmission over 30 kilometers of single-mode fiber. The transmitter operates within a wavelength bandwidth of 20nm with launch power ranging from 0 dBm to 6 dBm. The receiver sensitivity spans from -19 dBm to -5 dBm with overload protection at -5 dBm.

The BIDI-25GFH-SFP28-40A compatible 25G Fronthaul BiDi module is a hot-pluggable SFP28 transceiver featuring a single LC/UPC connector as the optical interface. The electrical interface conforms to SFF-8431, SFF-8432, and SFP28 MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard SFP28 host systems across multiple vendor equipment platforms. Our 25G Fronthaul BiDi SFP28 long-reach transceiver can be programmed for compatibility with various network equipment manufacturers supporting fronthaul infrastructure.

The module incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time operational parameters including transmitted and received optical power levels, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage. This diagnostic data is accessible via SFF-8472 compliant EEPROM interface, enabling continuous monitoring of transceiver health in mission-critical mobile network environments. Maximum power consumption is 1.5W.
