Brocade compatible E100G-QSFP28-BIDI Description
EdgeOptic's E100G-QSFP28-BIDI compatible is a Brocade (now Ruckus)-coded 100G SR-BiDi version of the EdgeOptic multi-vendor 100G BiDi transceiver. It carries Brocade (now Ruckus) recognized EEPROM so the module is accepted on Ruckus ICX switching, and the same firmware image supports multiple vendor codes across the catalog. This is a single-protocol 100G Ethernet QSFP28 optic at 103.125 Gbps using PAM4 signaling over two 50G lanes.
The module runs over duplex LC/UPC multimode fiber, two strands, with the BiDi wavelength scheme placing 850 nm on one strand and 900 nm on the other. The receiver is wideband, covering 832 to 918 nm, and the same module is used at both ends of the link with the TX and RX simply crossed over between the two fibers. There is no separate far-end variant. Reach is 70 m on OM3, 100 m on OM4, and 150 m on OM5, based on a 1.9 dB average link budget. Distance figures are indicative and depend on actual cabling attenuation.
The transmitter uses a VCSEL laser and the receiver is a PIN photodiode. Host-side RS-FEC is required, consistent with 100G SR-BiDi operation. The optic supports DOM/DDM for live monitoring of optical power, bias, temperature, and voltage. It operates across the commercial 0 to 70 C temperature range and conforms to the QSFP28 MSA mechanical and electrical envelope, with CE and RoHS compliance. The host electrical interface follows the CAUI-4 lane structure; the optical side is the 100G SR-BiDi MSA, not an IEEE optical PMD.
This optic targets Ruckus ICX campus switching. Confirm port and firmware support against the Ruckus/Brocade transceiver compatibility table for your specific chassis before deployment. Because the ICX line is Ethernet switching, the module carries 100G Ethernet only; it does not run SONET/SDH, OTN, or Fibre Channel.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the E100G-QSFP28-BIDI a Brocade or a Ruckus part number?
Both. The E100G-QSFP28-BIDI SKU appears under the legacy Brocade brand and under Ruckus, since the campus ICX switching line is now part of Ruckus Networks. Engineers find it listed either way, and the EdgeOptic compatible is coded to work on Ruckus ICX switches. Verify the part is supported on your specific chassis and firmware against the Ruckus/Brocade transceiver compatibility table.
