Brocade compatible E40G-QSFP-LR4 Description
EdgeOptic's E40G-QSFP-LR4 compatible is a Ruckus and Brocade coded version of the EdgeOptic 40G-QSFP-10 multi-vendor 40GBASE-LR4 transceiver. E40G-QSFP-LR4 is the Ruckus and CommScope single-unit ordering code for this QSFP+ module, the same optic carried as 40G-QSFP-LR4 under the Brocade ordering code. The module is encoded with multiple vendor codes so Ruckus and Brocade switches accept it as a native part.
Four CWDM lanes at 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm are combined onto one duplex LC pair over single-mode fiber to 10 km, to IEEE 802.3ba Clause 87 for 40GBASE-LR4 with a 6.6 dB average link budget. Each lane uses a DFB laser at −6 to +3 dBm launch and a PIN photodiode rated −12.6 dBm sensitivity per lane and +3 dBm overload. The optic meets the QSFP+ MSA, SFF-8436 and INF-8438i, operates across 0 to 70 °C, and reports full DOM/DDM diagnostics.
E40G-QSFP-LR4 is the current single-unit ordering code under the Ruckus and CommScope brand; the eight-unit equivalent is ordered as E40G-QSFP-LR4-8. The module is designed for Ruckus and Brocade Ethernet switching platforms, including the ICX 7000 campus series and the VDX and SLX data-center fabric switches. Verify the part against the Ruckus and CommScope transceiver compatibility guide for the target chassis.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is E40G-QSFP-LR4 the same transceiver as 40G-QSFP-LR4?
Yes. E40G-QSFP-LR4 is the Ruckus and CommScope ordering code for the same 40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+ module as the Brocade 40G-QSFP-LR4 code. Both designate a 10 km, four-lane CWDM optic over duplex LC single-mode fiber with identical optical specifications. EdgeOptic's compatible is coded to be recognized under both ordering codes.
Will the EdgeOptic E40G-QSFP-LR4 compatible work in Ruckus ICX switches?
The module is encoded with Ruckus and Brocade vendor codes so ICX switches recognize it as a supported 40GBASE-LR4 optic. Platform support spans the Ruckus ICX campus series and Brocade VDX and SLX fabric switches. Because Ruckus optics compatibility documentation is access-restricted, confirm the part against the transceiver compatibility guide for your specific chassis and software release before deployment.
