Chelsio compatible SM100G-LR Description

EdgeOptic's SM100G-LR compatible is a Chelsio-coded 100GBASE-LR4 QSFP28 transceiver built on the EdgeOptic 100G-QSFP28-10 platform. Chelsio's SM100G-LR is the long-reach companion to the SM100G-SR module and is positioned for 10 km links on Chelsio's T6-series 100G Unified Wire adapters. The EdgeOptic compatible carries Chelsio-recognized EEPROM identifiers so the host adapter and operating-system telemetry surface the expected SM100G-LR ordering code, and it ships with the same wavelength plan, electrical interface, and SFF-8636 management profile as the OEM module.

The optical interface follows IEEE 802.3ba Clause 88 100GBASE-LR4. Four 25.78 Gbps NRZ lanes ride the LAN WDM grid at 1295.56, 1300.05, 1304.58, and 1309.14 nm, then multiplex onto a single LC duplex pair of single-mode fiber. The 6.3 dB optical path loss budget supports a full 10 km reach on G.652 SMF. Host electrical interface is CAUI-4 (4x25G NRZ) into the QSFP28 cage. Power consumption peaks at 3.5 W, and the module reports DDM telemetry per SFF-8636 for tx power, rx power, bias current, supply voltage, and case temperature. Operating temperature is 0 to 70 C commercial range. The EdgeOptic compatible carries CE marking and RoHS compliance.

Chelsio's primary use case for SM100G-LR is the T6-series 100G adapter family. These adapters ship without bundled optics, and Chelsio lists SM100G-SR for short reach and SM100G-LR for the 10 km LR4 link option. EdgeOptic's compatible covers the LR4 use case with matching Chelsio EEPROM coding so the adapter driver enumerates the module as expected.
