Chelsio compatible SM10G-LR Description
EdgeOptic's SM10G-LR compatible is a Chelsio-coded version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 multi-vendor 10GBASE-LR transceiver. SM10G-LR is Chelsio's part number for a 1310 nm single-mode 10 km 10GBASE-LR SFP+. The EdgeOptic module meets IEEE 802.3ae Clause 52 and the SFP+ MSA (SFF-8431, SFF-8432). EdgeOptic programs the EEPROM for Chelsio host recognition, so the module works on Chelsio Terminator 10GbE adapters that accept SM10G-LR optics.
The module transmits at 1310 nm over duplex single-mode fiber with an LC connector, reaching 10 km on a 6 dB link budget. A DFB laser holds launch power between −8.2 and 0.5 dBm, while the PIN photodiode receiver reaches −14.5 dBm sensitivity and tolerates up to 0 dBm overload. DOM per SFF-8472 exposes TX and RX power, temperature, supply voltage, and laser bias current in real time.
Rates run from 1.25 to 11.32 Gbps, covering 10G Ethernet (10.31 Gbps), Gigabit Ethernet (1.25 Gbps), and STM-64 (9.95 Gbps), with the host port setting the active rate. The module runs from a single +3.3 V supply across a 0 to 70 °C commercial case range and is hot-pluggable.
