EdgeOptic's SM25G-SR compatible is a Chelsio-coded version of the EdgeOptic 25G-SFP28-100 multi-vendor SFP28 dual-rate 10G/25G SR transceiver. SM25G-SR is Chelsio's ordering code for the 25Gb/s SFP28 short-reach optical module positioned against the Chelsio T6-series 25G Unified Wire adapter range. The module is programmed with Chelsio-recognized EEPROM vendor and part-number strings so the T6-series adapter reads the optic against its native transceiver table.

Optical behavior is 25GBASE-SR per IEEE 802.3by Clause 112 over duplex multi-mode fiber, with 10GBASE-SR support per IEEE 802.3ae on dual-rate SFP28 host ports. Line signaling rate is 10.3125 Gbps at 10GBASE-SR and 25.78125 Gbps at 25GBASE-SR. Reach is 100 m on OM4 and 70 m on OM3, all within the SFP28 SerDes envelope defined by SFP28 MSA SFF-8402.

Optical path is 850 nm VCSEL transmitter, PIN photodiode receiver, TX optical power −5 to +2.4 dBm, RX sensitivity better than −10.3 dBm, 5.3 dB link budget, LC duplex connector. Digital diagnostics are SFF-8472 Rev 12.0 compliant, exposing per-module temperature, supply voltage, TX bias, TX power and RX power through Chelsio's standard transceiver-diagnostics interface on the T6-series Unified Wire adapter. Power dissipation is 0.3 W, the module is hot-swappable, and the operating temperature range is 0 to 70°C commercial.

The primary in-scope platform is the Chelsio T6-series 25G Unified Wire adapter family. On FEC, 25G FEC mode is configured at the MAC layer on each link partner and the optical path is agnostic to whether RS-FEC per IEEE 802.3by Clause 108 or BASE-R FEC is negotiated on the host. Confirm the FEC profile matches on both link partners during commissioning to avoid mismatch on mixed-vendor 25G links. The module is symmetrically compatible with either FEC mode supported on the T6-series host port.
