Chelsio compatible SM40G-LR Description
EdgeOptic's SM40G-LR compatible is a Chelsio-coded version of the EdgeOptic 40G-QSFP-10 multi-vendor 40GBASE-LR4 transceiver. It carries Chelsio-recognized EEPROM so the module identifies cleanly in Chelsio T5 and T6 ASIC Unified Wire 40-Gigabit Ethernet adapters. The module is a QSFP+ 40GBASE-LR4 optic built for 10 km over duplex single-mode fiber on an LC/UPC connector. It multiplexes four CWDM lanes at 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm using DFB lasers, with a PIN photodiode receiver. Per-lane launch power runs −6 to +3 dBm and receiver sensitivity is −12.6 dBm, with an RX overload of +3 dBm, giving an average link budget of 6.6 dB. The module operates across 0 to 70 °C.
It conforms to IEEE 802.3ba Clause 87 for 40GBASE-LR4 and to the QSFP+ MSA (INF-8438i, SFF-8436), with DOM/DDM reporting for real-time monitoring of temperature, supply voltage, laser bias, and optical TX/RX power. This is an Ethernet transceiver for Chelsio NIC deployments; it does not carry OTN or SONET/SDH transport rates.
