160-9404-900 is the Ciena legacy part number (inherited from Nortel) for a dual-rate 100GBASE-ER4 / OTU4-ER4 QSFP28 transceiver. The same module is also listed under Ciena's native part number XCVR-Q30V31. This EDGE compatible module matches the original Ciena specifications with EEPROM coded for Ciena platform authentication. It operates over duplex single-mode fiber at four LAN-WDM wavelengths (1295.56, 1300.05, 1304.58, and 1309.14 nm), reaching up to 40 km with host FEC or 30 km without FEC.
The module uses EML transmitters and APD (Avalanche Photodiode) receivers, supporting both 100G Ethernet at 103.125 Gbps and OTU4 at 111.81 Gbps. DDM/DOM provides real-time readings of TX/RX optical power, laser bias current, temperature, and supply voltage. Maximum power consumption is 4.5 W from a single 3.3 V supply. Operating temperature range is 0 to 70 °C.
