Cisco (Linksys) compatible LACXGLR Description
LACXGLR is the Linksys part number for a 10GBASE-LR SFP+ transceiver designed for Linksys business-class managed switches with SFP+ uplink ports. EdgeOptic's compatible replacement is built on our 10G-SFP-10 platform, a 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ module conforming to IEEE 802.3ae 10GBASE-LR with 10 km reach over single-mode fiber.
Linksys operated as a division of Cisco Systems until 2013, when Cisco sold the brand to Belkin International (now part of Foxconn). Post-divestiture, Linksys maintains its own product line and part numbering scheme separate from Cisco. The LACXGLR is Linksys's 10GBASE-LR optic — it follows the same IEEE 802.3ae optical specification as Cisco's SFP-10G-LR but carries Linksys-specific EEPROM vendor coding. The two are not interchangeable at the EEPROM level: Cisco IOS and NX-OS validate vendor fields differently than Linksys switch firmware.
The EdgeOptic LACXGLR replacement is EEPROM-coded for Linksys platforms. It is validated on Linksys LGS308MP, LGS310MPC, LGS352MPC, and other LGS3xx-series managed switches that feature SFP+ uplink ports. These switches are commonly deployed in SMB and branch-office networks where 10G SFP+ uplinks connect access-layer Linksys switches to a core or distribution switch over single-mode fiber runs.
For Cisco IOS or NX-OS platforms, EdgeOptic offers separate Cisco-coded 10GBASE-LR SFP+ modules. Using a Linksys-coded module in a Cisco IOS or NX-OS switch may trigger unsupported-transceiver warnings or fail vendor validation entirely. Conversely, a Cisco-coded module in a Linksys switch may not be recognized.
The transceiver operates at 10.3125 Gbps (64B/66B line encoding) over a 1310 nm DFB laser with a PIN photodiode receiver. Reach is 10 km over ITU-T G.652 single-mode fiber through a duplex LC/UPC connector. Per IEEE 802.3ae, the 10GBASE-LR specification allows a maximum channel insertion loss of approximately 6.3 dB, covering the fiber attenuation and connector losses typical of structured campus cabling. Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) per SFF-8472 reports transmit power, receive power, temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage through the switch management interface.
MSA-compliant per SFF-8431 and SFF-8432, CE/RoHS certified, commercial temperature range (0 to 70 °C). The module includes a lifetime warranty and is tested before dispatch. For volume pricing or project support, contact our sales team
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the LACXGLR in a Cisco Catalyst or Nexus switch?
No. The LACXGLR is EEPROM-coded for Linksys. Cisco switches validate vendor coding and may reject the module or flag it as unsupported. EdgeOptic offers separate Cisco-coded 10GBASE-LR SFP+ modules for Catalyst and Nexus platforms.
Which Linksys switches have SFP+ ports compatible with the LACXGLR?
The LGS3xx series managed switches — including the LGS308MP, LGS310MPC, and LGS352MPC — feature SFP+ uplink ports that accept the LACXGLR. Check the specific model's datasheet to confirm SFP+ port availability.
