Cisco compatible QSFP-100G-SL4 Description
EdgeOptic's QSFP-100G-SL4 compatible is a Cisco-coded 100GBASE-SR4 version of the EdgeOptic 100G-QSFP28-100 multi-vendor QSFP28 transceiver, supplied for the Cisco QSFP-100G-SL4 slot. It carries 100 Gigabit Ethernet over four parallel 850 nm VCSEL lanes on multi-mode fiber using an MTP/MPO-12 (UPC) interface, running NRZ at four lanes of 25.78 Gbps with no FEC.
The Cisco QSFP-100G-SL4 is a 100GBASE-SL4 Short Link optic rated for 30 m over OM4 and 20 m over OM3, designed as a cost-reduced short-reach alternative to the QSFP-100G-SR4-S. EdgeOptic supplies its 100GBASE-SR4 class module for this slot, reaching 100 m over OM4 and 70 m over OM3. That fully covers the shorter SL4 application and extends to standard SR4 distances, so a single part handles both short-link and longer in-rack and row runs. Verify the reach your installation requires against your fiber type and connector loss.
Optical specifications: 850 nm transmit, RX sensitivity better than −10.3 dBm per lane, and a 1.9 dB average link budget. The transceiver presents a female MPO-12 port and mates with a male (pinned) MTP/MPO patch cord. DDM/DOM is supported for live monitoring of optical power, bias, temperature, and supply voltage. The module operates across the 0 to +70°C commercial range, draws up to 3.5 W, and conforms to IEEE 802.3bm Clause 95 and the QSFP28 MSA.
EdgeOptic codes the QSFP-100G-SL4 compatible with Cisco-recognized EEPROM, so Cisco platforms accept it without the service unsupported-transceiver command. Confirm the optic against the chassis transceiver table for the target port before deployment. The module is CE/RoHS certified and built to QSFP28 MSA SFF-8665.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Cisco QSFP-100G-SL4 and QSFP-100G-SR4-S?
The QSFP-100G-SL4 is a 100GBASE-SL4 Short Link optic rated for 30 m over OM4 and 20 m over OM3, while the QSFP-100G-SR4-S is a 100GBASE-SR4 optic rated for 100 m over OM4 and 70 m over OM3. EdgeOptic's compatible for the SL4 slot is built on the 100GBASE-SR4 class, so it covers the short SL4 application and the longer SR4 distances. Order the part coded for the slot your platform expects and confirm the reach against your fiber type.
