This transceiver is often referred to as Cisco 1000Base-SX GBIC, but its oldest form factor – correct is SFP. It has a minimum guaranteed optical budget of 7.5 dB, with in most cases GLC-SX-MM distance being enough to reach about 550 m distance over multi-mode fiber. However, GLC-SX-MM distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for the comfort of identification. Eventually, we calculate distance taking in account the minimal optical budget and average attenuation of optical cabling in the industry. This transceiver uses top quality VSCEL Laser transmitter operating at nominal wavelengths 850 nm. and 850 nm. PIN Photodiode receiver. It supports DDM/DOM optical diagnostics, with providing diagnostic information about the present operating conditions.
