EdgeOptic's DS-SFP-FC4G-LW compatible is a Cisco-coded, Fibre-Channel-ready version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 multi-vendor 10GBASE-LR transceiver. Cisco's ordering description for the part is 1/2/4-Gbps Fibre Channel-Longwave 10-km, SFP, LC. The EdgeOptic module meets the SFP+ MSA (SFF-8431, SFF-8432) and carries the 1310 nm single-mode optical path. EdgeOptic programs the EEPROM for Cisco host recognition, so the module reports correctly on Cisco MDS 9000 Series platforms that list DS-SFP-FC4G-LW.
The module transmits at 1310 nm over duplex single-mode fiber with an LC connector, reaching 10 km at a 6 dB link budget. A DFB laser holds launch power between −8.2 and 0.5 dBm, and the PIN photodiode receiver is rated at −14.5 dBm sensitivity with 0 dBm overload. DOM per SFF-8472 reports TX and RX power, temperature, supply voltage, and laser bias current in real time.
