EdgeOptic's DS-SFP-FC4G-MR compatible is a Cisco-coded, Fibre-Channel-ready version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 multi-vendor 10GBASE-LR transceiver. Cisco's ordering description for the part is 1/2/4-Gbps Fibre Channel-Longwave 4-km, SFP, LC. The EdgeOptic module meets the SFP+ MSA (SFF-8431, SFF-8432) and carries the 1310 nm single-mode optical path. EdgeOptic programs the EEPROM for Cisco host recognition, so the module reports correctly on Cisco MDS 9000 Series platforms that list DS-SFP-FC4G-MR.
Cisco rates the DS-SFP-FC4G-MR ordering code for 4 km over single-mode fiber. EdgeOptic's compatible is the 10 km 10GBASE-LR module, so it covers the same 4 km MDS longwave links with margin and reaches the full 10 km on standard single-mode plant.
