Cisco compatible MA-SFP-10GB-LR Description
The EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 is a compatible replacement for the Cisco Meraki MA-SFP-10GB-LR 10GBASE-LR SFP+ transceiver. It provides 10 Gigabit Ethernet over single-mode fiber at 1310nm, reaching up to 10km with a duplex LC connector. Meraki EEPROM coded for native dashboard recognition.
The transceiver operates at 10.3125 Gbps, supporting 10GBASE-LR per IEEE 802.3ae. It uses a 1310nm DFB laser transmitter paired with a PIN photodiode receiver, with a minimum link budget of 6dB over standard G.652 single-mode fiber. Dual-rate operation at 1G Ethernet (1.25 Gbps) is also supported on ports that allow rate negotiation.
This module is compatible with Meraki MS425, MS450 aggregation switches, MX450 security appliances, and MS390 series with 10G uplink modules. Meraki cloud-managed devices do not require CLI commands for compatible optics.
The MA- prefix is Meraki’s part number scheme, distinct from standard Cisco SFP-10G-LR. Meraki devices require Meraki-specific EEPROM coding and will not accept standard Cisco IOS/NX-OS coded optics. The underlying 10GBASE-LR specification is identical.
Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) is supported per SFF-8472. The module reports TX/RX optical power, temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage in real time. CE/RoHS certified, commercial temperature range (0 to 70 °C).

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a standard Cisco SFP-10G-LR in a Meraki switch?
No. Meraki devices require Meraki-specific EEPROM coding (MA- prefix). Standard Cisco IOS/NX-OS coded optics are not recognized. Use the MA-SFP-10GB-LR coded variant for Meraki platforms.
