Cisco QDD-400G-LR4-S Compatible 400GBASE-LR4 QSFP-DD Transceiver

EdgeOptic's QDD-400G-LR4-S compatible is a Cisco-coded version of the EdgeOptic 400G-QSFP-DD-11 multi-vendor 400GBASE-LR4 QSFP-DD transceiver. It carries the same optical parameters as the Cisco original and is built to the same QSFP-DD MSA mechanical and electrical envelope, so it drops into Cisco QSFP-DD ports as a direct replacement for the OEM module.

The module carries four-channel CWDM optics on 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm, each lane driven by an EML transmitter and recovered on a PIN photodiode. Signaling is PAM4 at a 425 Gbps aggregate line rate, delivering 400G Ethernet over a duplex LC/UPC interface on standard single-mode fiber. The link supports a 7.1 dB average optical link budget, which covers reaches up to 10 km over OS2 fiber. Average launch power per lane runs from −2.8 dBm to +4 dBm, and receiver sensitivity is rated at −9.1 dBm per lane. Distance is an indicative figure derived from the average link budget and typical fiber attenuation, so verify the loss on the installed span during commissioning.

The 400GbE electrical and rate envelope is defined by IEEE 802.3bs, while the LR4 optical interface follows the 100G Lambda MSA 400G-LR4-10 specification. The host system supplies RS(544,514) KP4 forward error correction, and the module includes clock and data recovery on both the host and line sides. Digital diagnostic monitoring reports temperature, supply voltage, laser bias, transmit power and receive power per lane, and the module is managed over CMIS V4.0. It operates across a 0 to 70 degrees C case temperature range and draws up to 9 W. The 400G-QSFP-DD-11 platform is a 400GbE-only module: it does not carry Fibre Channel, OTN or SONET traffic.

EdgeOptic codes this compatible with Cisco-recognized EEPROM, so it is accepted on Cisco platforms with QSFP-DD ports without the service unsupported-transceiver command. The module is CE and RoHS certified, rated Class 1 laser per IEC 60825-1, and compliant with the QSFP-DD MSA.
