Cisco compatible QSFP-100G-4W40-I Description

EdgeOptic's QSFP-100G-4W40-I compatible is a Cisco-coded industrial-temperature 100GBASE-4WDM-40 QSFP28 transceiver built to the 4WDM-40 MSA. It mirrors Cisco part QSFP-100G-4W40-I, the I-Temp variant of QSFP-100G-4W40 with an extended -40 to +85 C operating range for hardened-environment routing and access deployments.

Optical layer matches the commercial QSFP-100G-4W40. Four LAN-WDM channels at 1295.56, 1300.05, 1304.58, and 1309.14 nm carry 25.78125 Gb/s NRZ each. Cooled EML transmitters land between -2 dBm and +4 dBm per lane, and APD receivers reach -21 dBm sensitivity with -1 dBm overload. Optical link budget is 22 dB with host RS-FEC engaged for the full 40 km reach over G.652 SMF, or 18 dB without FEC. Host RS-FEC is required for the 40 km application.

Protocol scope is 100GE only. The 4WDM-40 MSA defines a 100GBASE application with KR4 FEC and does not extend to OTU4 or Fibre Channel. Use this module for 100GBASE-4WDM-40 ports only.

Compatible with Cisco NCS 5500 and NCS 5700 industrial chassis with QSFP28 ports running IOS XR, plus other Cisco platforms supporting 100GBASE-4WDM-40 in the iTemp profile. Verify the specific line card and IOS XR release against the Cisco TMG matrix and the chassis transceiver table before deployment, particularly when the deployment requires the -40 to +85 C operating range.

EEPROM is programmed with Cisco-recognized vendor data, so the optic comes up cleanly on IOS XR and NX-OS without the service unsupported-transceiver command and with no third-party-transceiver warning at the CLI. DOM is supported through the standard QSFP28 SFF-8636 page map for temperature, supply voltage, laser bias, transmit power, and per-lane receive power. Form factor is QSFP28 duplex LC PC/UPC; module power 4.5 W maximum; industrial operating temperature -40 to +85 C.

Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty included. For Cisco iTemp platform validation against your IOS XR release, contact our sales team.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does QSFP-100G-4W40-I require the service unsupported-transceiver command on Cisco IOS XR or NX-OS?

No. The EEPROM is programmed with Cisco-recognized vendor data, so the iTemp QSFP-100G-4W40-I comes up on IOS XR and NX-OS with no service unsupported-transceiver setting and no third-party-transceiver warning. Bring the interface up the same way you would with a Cisco-branded QSFP-100G-4W40-I. The 100GBASE-4WDM-40 host-FEC profile does need to be enabled on the line-side port for the full 40 km reach; verify the FEC mode on the chassis transceiver table for the specific line card and IOS XR release before committing the link.
