Cisco compatible QSFP-100G-DR-S Description
EdgeOptic's QSFP-100G-DR-S compatible is a Cisco-coded version of the EdgeOptic 100G-QSFP28-SL500 multi-vendor 100GBASE-DR transceiver. It runs single-lambda 100G PAM4 at 1310nm over duplex single-mode fiber, IEEE 802.3cd 100GBASE-DR and 100G Lambda MSA compliant in a QSFP28 form factor. On the optical side the module maps the four 25G NRZ host lanes to one 100G PAM4 wavelength, giving 106.25 Gbps line rate with a 3 dB link budget that covers 500m over G.652 SMF.
Transmit uses an EML laser across the 1304.5 to 1317.5nm range; receive uses a PIN photodiode. DOM diagnostics report live optical and temperature data, and the module operates across the standard 0 to 70 degrees C range with duplex LC connectors. RS(544,514) KP4 FEC runs inside the module DSP, so the host port must keep its own FEC disabled. Running FEC on both ends corrupts the link.
As a single-lambda PAM4 module, the QSFP-100G-DR-S interoperates with 400GBASE-DR4 optics such as Cisco's QSFP-400G-DR4-S through a fiber breakout, a common 400G-to-100G fan-out in data center spine and aggregation links. Note the ordering convention: QSFP-100G-DR-S is the standard PID, and QSFP-100G-DR-S= with the trailing equals sign is the Cisco spare-part order code for the same module. Verify chassis support against Cisco's transceiver compatibility matrix for your platform.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the QSFP-100G-DR-S compatible need the service unsupported-transceiver command on NX-OS or IOS XE?
No. EdgeOptic codes its Cisco-compatible optics with Cisco-recognized EEPROM, so the switch accepts the module without the service unsupported-transceiver command. Verify platform support against Cisco's transceiver compatibility matrix for your specific chassis and software release.
What does the equals sign mean in QSFP-100G-DR-S= and is it a different part?
It is the same module. QSFP-100G-DR-S is the standard orderable PID and QSFP-100G-DR-S= is Cisco's spare-part ordering code for the identical transceiver. EdgeOptic's compatible covers both ordering references.
Can the QSFP-100G-DR-S connect to a 400G QSFP-DD DR4 port?
Yes, through a fiber breakout. Each single-lambda 100GBASE-DR module pairs with one of the four DR4 lanes on a 400GBASE-DR4 port, so four QSFP-100G-DR-S modules can fan out from a single QSFP-DD DR4 transceiver. Both ends run the embedded module FEC with host-side FEC disabled.
