Cisco compatible SFP-10G-T-X Description
EdgeOptic's SFP-10G-T-X compatible is a Cisco-coded 10GBASE-T SFP+ copper transceiver for Cisco Catalyst 9300 and 9500 switches (Cisco ordering code SFP-10G-T-X=). It ships with Cisco-recognised EEPROM, so IOS-XE identifies it as a genuine optic without any 'service unsupported-transceiver' workaround.
The module operates at 100 Mbps, 1G, and 10G over RJ45 up to 30 m on Cat 6a or Cat 7 copper. Speed selection is auto-negotiation only; per Cisco documentation the OEM SFP-10G-T-X does not support a forced 'speed 10000' configuration, and the EdgeOptic compatible matches that behaviour. Electrical interface follows the SFF-8431 SFP+ MSA and IEEE 802.3an for 10GBASE-T, with 0 to 65 °C operating range, and CE and RoHS certification.
Cisco supports SFP-10G-T-X on Catalyst 9300 main SFP+ ports from IOS-XE Gibraltar 16.11 onwards and on Catalyst 9500-24Y4C and 9500-48Y4C from Amsterdam 17.1 onwards, with consistent support across the 17.x release train. On C9500-24Y4C and C9500-48Y4C, Cisco caps the number of simultaneously active SFP-10G-T-X modules at eight per chassis for thermal reasons; inserting a ninth triggers the %IOMD_ETHER_GEIM-4-MAX_LIMIT_XCVR error and error-disables the lowest-numbered port. The limit applies in both standalone and StackWise Virtual configurations.
The module is intended for the main SFP+ cages on Catalyst 9300 and 9500 platforms. The C9300-NM-8X uplink module is not listed as a supported host for SFP-10G-T-X and should not be populated with this transceiver. DOM telemetry is available through 'show interfaces transceiver detail' on IOS-XE, with case temperature, supply voltage, and electrical status reported through the standard DDM registers.
Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical and copper SFP+ platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty. For bulk quotes, lead time confirmation, or platform validation against a specific IOS-XE release, contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many SFP-10G-T-X modules can be installed at once in a Catalyst 9500-24Y4C or 9500-48Y4C?
Cisco permits a maximum of eight active SFP-10G-T-X modules per Catalyst 9500-24Y4C or 9500-48Y4C chassis. A ninth module triggers %IOMD_ETHER_GEIM-4-MAX_LIMIT_XCVR and error-disables the lowest-numbered populated port. The cap is a thermal and power constraint documented in the Catalyst 9500 release notes (17.9 through 17.14), applies in both standalone and StackWise Virtual, and is not a defect of the optic. Plan 10GBASE-T port counts on C9500 with this ceiling in mind, or mix in fibre SFP+ optics for higher port density.
Does SFP-10G-T-X work in the C9300-NM-8X uplink module?
No. The C9300-NM-8X uplink module is not listed on Cisco's SFP-10G-T-X compatibility matrix. Use this transceiver only in the main SFP+ cages on Catalyst 9300 and Catalyst 9500 platforms. On a C9300 chassis fitted with the C9300-NM-8X uplink, populate that uplink with fibre 10G optics or a different copper variant that Cisco has qualified for it.
