Cisco compatible SFP-OC12-SR Description
The Cisco SFP-OC12-SR is an OC-12/STM-4 SONET/SDH transceiver that operates at the 622.08 Mbps SONET line rate over single-mode fiber at 1310 nm, rated for short-reach spans on standard SMF. It is a SONET/SDH transport optic governed by the Telcordia GR-253 optical interface specification, a different device class from Gigabit Ethernet 1000BASE-LX modules.
OC-12/STM-4 SONET runs at 622 Mbps with a transmit-power and receiver profile defined for SONET short reach, which differs from the 1.25 Gbps line rate and optical power profile of the 1000BASE-LX Gigabit Ethernet class. EdgeOptic's 1G 1000BASE-LX SFP portfolio is not an optical-specification substitute for an OC-12/STM-4 SONET transceiver, and is not suitable for short-reach SONET links where transmit power must stay within the SONET short-reach window.
