1.25G Dual-Port BiDi cSFP 40km Industrial TX1550/RX1310 Description

Our EDGEOPTIC 1.25G-cSFP-40-BDI is a multi-vendor compatible industrial-grade dual-port compact SFP optical module designed for extended-reach Gigabit Ethernet networks operating in extreme environmental conditions. This cSFP transceiver houses two independent BiDi (Bidirectional) channels within a single standard SFP form factor, enabling network engineers to achieve maximum port density with 40km reach capability in outdoor and industrial installations where commercial transceivers cannot perform reliably.

The 1.25G-cSFP-40-BDI operates with both channels transmitting at 1550nm wavelength and receiving at 1310nm, supporting data rates from 1.063 to 1.25 Gbps per channel. Each channel utilizes BiDi technology through WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) for full-duplex communication over a single fiber strand per port. This module serves as the complementary pair to the 1.25G-cSFP-40-ADI (TX1310/RX1550), and both units are required to establish functional bidirectional optical links across extended metropolitan and industrial network segments.

The industrial temperature rating of -45 to +85°C combined with 40km transmission distance creates a transceiver uniquely suited for geographically distributed infrastructure in challenging environments. Regional power grid SCADA networks, transcontinental pipeline monitoring systems, and extensive railway communications represent ideal applications where extended reach must be maintained despite exposure to seasonal temperature extremes and industrial heat sources.

The transceiver employs DFB (Distributed Feedback) laser transmitters paired with PIN photodiode receivers for each channel, with industrial-grade components validated for reliable operation across the full temperature specification. DFB laser technology ensures excellent wavelength stability and narrow spectral width essential for 1550nm extended-reach transmission, where chromatic dispersion effects are more pronounced. With transmit power ranging from -5 to 0 dBm and receiver sensitivity of -24 dBm, the module delivers a guaranteed 19 dB optical link budget. Dispersion tolerance of 800-1000 ps/nm accommodates the accumulated chromatic dispersion typical of 40km single-mode fiber spans at 1550nm. As with all extended-reach deployments, actual achievable distance is influenced by fiber plant characteristics, connector losses, and splice attenuation.

The 1.25G-cSFP-40-BDI features a Double LC/UPC connector interface accommodating two independent optical ports in the compact housing. The electrical interface adheres to CSFP MSA Option 2 specifications, ensuring seamless integration with industrial networking platforms from various equipment manufacturers.

Full Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM/DOM) functionality enables real-time monitoring of transmitted and received optical power for both channels, module temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage. For remote industrial sites with extended fiber runs, comprehensive diagnostics prove invaluable for remote troubleshooting and preventive maintenance without requiring site visits.

Standards compliance encompasses IEEE 802.3z for Gigabit Ethernet, IEEE 802.3ah for 1000Base-BX, and 1G Fiber Channel at 1.0625 Gbps. The module holds CE and RoHS certifications with Class 1 laser safety compliance per FDA and IEC 60825-1 requirements.

Typical applications include utility backbone networks connecting distributed substations, mining operations with extended surface-to-underground connectivity, port and maritime infrastructure, and any industrial deployment requiring the combination of 40km reach, dual-channel density, and proven environmental resilience.

Because our focus is providing top quality service, we conduct thorough quality verification including temperature stress testing, dual-channel optical parameter measurements, connector cleanliness inspection, and EEPROM memory validation before delivery.
