Dell (Force10) compatible 407-BBOP Description

The EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 is a compatible replacement for the Dell 407-BBOP 10GBASE-LR SFP+ transceiver. It provides 10 Gigabit Ethernet over single-mode fiber at 1310nm, reaching up to 10km with a duplex LC connector. This module is Dell EEPROM coded and shows as qualified on Dell OS9 and OS10 platforms.

The transceiver operates at 10.3125 Gbps, supporting 10GBASE-LR per IEEE 802.3ae. It uses a 1310nm DFB laser transmitter paired with a PIN photodiode receiver, with a minimum link budget of 6dB over standard G.652 single-mode fiber. Dual-rate operation at 1G Ethernet (1.25 Gbps) is also supported on ports that allow rate negotiation.

This module is compatible with Dell PowerSwitch S4048-ON, S4148-ON, S5212F-ON, S5224F-ON, S5232F-ON, Z9100-ON, and Z9264F-ON data center switches. Dell N-series campus switches (N1524, N2048, N3024, N3048, N3132PX-ON) and legacy Force10 S4810 platforms are also supported.

407-BBOP is Dell’s current ordering SKU for the 10GBASE-LR SFP+ transceiver. Earlier ordering codes include 331-5310 and GP-10GSFP-1L (Force10 era). The Dell DP/N printed on the module label is typically 7002X, RN84N, or T307D depending on the production batch. All refer to the same specification.

Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) is supported per SFF-8472. The module reports TX/RX optical power, temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage in real time. CE/RoHS certified, commercial temperature range (0 to 70 °C).

All EdgeOptic modules ship with a lifetime warranty and are tested before dispatch. For volume pricing or project support, contact our sales team.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Dell part numbers are equivalent to 407-BBOP?

407-BBOP is the current Dell ordering SKU. Older ordering codes 331-5310 and GP-10GSFP-1L refer to the same 10GBASE-LR SFP+ module. Dell DP/N numbers 7002X, RN84N, and T307D appear on physical module labels across production batches. The Finisar OEM part is FTLX1471D3BCL-FC.

Does Dell block third-party SFP+ optics?

Dell uses soft-locking. Non-Dell optics typically link up but generate unsupported-transceiver syslog messages. The “allow unsupported-transceiver” command (OS9/OS10) suppresses these warnings. Dell-coded compatible modules bypass this entirely and show as qualified in the CLI.
