Dell (Force10) compatible 407-BBVO Description
EdgeOptic's 407-BBVO compatible is a Dell Force10-coded version of the EdgeOptic 100G-QSFP28-2.1 multi-vendor 100G CWDM4 QSFP28 transceiver. It supports 2 km links on G.652 single-mode fiber across the CWDM4 MSA wavelength grid at 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm, with four parallel lanes aggregated to a 100 Gb/s line rate over a duplex LC connection. The module supports digital diagnostics (DDM/DOM) and operates across the 0 to 70 degrees Celsius commercial temperature range, conforming to the QSFP28 MSA (SFF-8636 and SFF-8665), the 100G CWDM4 MSA and the 100G CLR4 Alliance specifications.
The EdgeOptic 407-BBVO compatible is EEPROM-coded to Dell's transceiver identification specification, so Dell PowerSwitch and Dell Force10 host platforms recognize it as a Dell-channel transceiver and bring the port up without third-party transceiver warnings or an error-disabled state. Non-Dell-coded QSFP28 modules on Dell OS10 ports typically raise a transceiver-unsupported condition that requires operator intervention; the EEPROM coding on this module avoids that path. For deployment validation on a specific Dell PowerSwitch or Force10 chassis, contact our sales team.
The root EdgeOptic 100G-QSFP28-2.1 module is specified for triple-rate operation, covering 100 Gigabit Ethernet plus 4 by 32G Fibre Channel and OTU4 transport. The Dell Force10 host platforms covered above use the 100GE rate only; 32G Fibre Channel and OTU4 operation fall outside the Dell ordering context for 407-BBVO. For 32G FC or OTU4 applications on alternative host platforms, contact our sales team.
Dell publishes this transceiver under two part numbers: 407-BBVO is the Dell system ordering code, while NK0J8 is the manufacturer part number printed on the module label. Both reference the same Dell Force10 QSFP28 100G CWDM4 transceiver. Procurement through the Dell channel typically references 407-BBVO on purchase orders, while the NK0J8 part number appears on the module label and in asset databases.
Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty.
Common questions
Does the EdgeOptic 407-BBVO compatible work on Dell PowerSwitch and Dell Force10 platforms without a CLI override?
Yes. The EdgeOptic 407-BBVO compatible is EEPROM-coded to Dell's transceiver identification specification, so Dell PowerSwitch and Dell Force10 host platforms recognize it as a Dell-channel transceiver without requiring a CLI override. Non-Dell-coded QSFP28 modules on Dell OS10 platforms typically raise a transceiver-unsupported condition and place the port into an error-disabled state; the EdgeOptic compatible avoids that path because the EEPROM identifies as Dell.
Is the Dell Force10 407-BBVO the same module as NK0J8?
Yes. 407-BBVO is the Dell system ordering code; NK0J8 is the manufacturer part number printed on the optical module label. Both reference the same Dell Force10 QSFP28 100G CWDM4 transceiver. Customers ordering through the Dell channel typically use 407-BBVO; the NK0J8 part number appears on the physical module and on third-party datasheets.
