Dell 407-BCEX Compatible 100GBASE-SR4 QSFP28 Transceiver

EdgeOptic's 407-BCEX compatible is a Dell-coded 100GBASE-SR4 version of the EdgeOptic 100G-QSFP28-100 multi-vendor QSFP28 transceiver, programmed with Dell-recognized EEPROM so PowerEdge host BIOS and iDRAC inventory tooling read the module as the original Dell-supplied 407-BCEX. One universal short-reach optic shipped under the vendor encoding the host expects.

Optical specifications: 100GBASE-SR4 per IEEE 802.3bm Clause 95, four parallel 25 Gb/s NRZ lanes at 850 nm VCSEL transmit, RX sensitivity better than −10.3 dBm per lane, 1.9 dB average link budget. Reach is 100 m over OM4 and 70 m over OM3 multimode fiber. The optical interface is an MTP/MPO-12 receptacle using 8 of 12 fibers in parallel, four transmit and four receive.

Host and protocol scope: 100 Gigabit Ethernet only. The module does not carry Fibre Channel, OTU4, or SONET/SDH framing. The MPO port on the transceiver is female (no pins); the patch cord is pinned (male), with Type B polarity for transceiver-to-transceiver links. Power consumption is 3.5 W typical, commercial operating range 0 to 70 °C, and DOM diagnostics are exposed via the standard QSFP28 two-wire interface, so iDRAC and OS-level tools can poll temperature, voltage, bias, and per-lane optical power in real time.

Platform fit: Dell publishes 407-BCEX as a PowerEdge server-side QSFP28 optic. Compatible with Dell PowerEdge server QSFP28 host ports that list 407-BCEX as a supported transceiver; verify the specific server model against Dell's transceiver compatibility documentation before deployment.
