EdgeOptic's A8282844 compatible is a Dell Force10-coded version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 multi-vendor 10GBASE-LR transceiver. A8282844 is Dell's ordering code for a 1310 nm single-mode 10 km 10GBASE-LR SFP+. The EdgeOptic module meets IEEE 802.3ae Clause 52 and the SFP+ MSA (SFF-8431, SFF-8432). EdgeOptic programs the EEPROM for Dell host recognition, so the module works on Dell and Force10 platforms that accept 10G SFP+ optics.
A 1310 nm DFB laser drives duplex single-mode fiber through an LC connector, reaching 10 km at a 6 dB link budget. Launch power sits between −8.2 and 0.5 dBm, and the PIN photodiode receiver holds −14.5 dBm sensitivity with 0 dBm overload. Digital optical monitoring per SFF-8472 tracks TX and RX power, temperature, supply voltage, and laser bias current in real time.
Supported rates run from 1.25 to 11.32 Gbps and include 10G Ethernet (10.31 Gbps), Gigabit Ethernet (1.25 Gbps), and STM-64 (9.95 Gbps), with the active rate set by the host port. The module draws from a single +3.3 V supply, operates across a 0 to 70 °C commercial case range, and is hot-pluggable.
