EdgeOptic's Q28-100GESR4 compatible is a Dell-coded 100GBASE-SR4 version of the EdgeOptic 100G-QSFP28-100 multi-vendor 100GBASE-SR4 transceiver, one universal short-reach module coded for multiple vendor platforms. It carries 100G Ethernet over four parallel 850 nm VCSEL lanes at 25G each across multimode fiber, terminated on an MTP/MPO-12 (UPC) connector using 8 active fibers, 4 transmit and 4 receive. The transceiver port is female and unpinned; the patch cable is the pinned male side. Reach is 100 m over OM4 and 70 m over OM3, per IEEE 802.3bm Clause 95.

Optical specifications include a 1.9 dB average link budget, receiver sensitivity of −10.3 dBm per lane, NRZ modulation, and no FEC required at this reach. The transmitter uses 850 nm VCSELs; the receiver is a PIN photodiode. OM4 supports the full 100 m while OM3 is rated to 70 m, with achievable distance depending on patch panels, splices, and connector cleanliness in the installed link. DDM/DOM is supported through SFF-8636, so the host reads per-lane transmit power, receive power, and laser bias plus module temperature and supply voltage. The module operates across the 0°C to 70°C commercial range at up to 3.5 W and is compliant with the QSFP28 MSA and SFF-8665.
