Dell (Force10) compatible QSFP-40G-LR4 Description
EdgeOptic's Dell QSFP-40G-LR4 compatible is a Dell-coded version of the EdgeOptic 40G-QSFP-10 multi-vendor 40GBASE-LR4 transceiver. Dell uses QSFP-40G-LR4 as an ordering code for its 40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+ optic, cross-referenced with the 407-BBGN Customer Kit and 430-4917 designations, and EdgeOptic's module ships with EEPROM that Dell Force10 and PowerSwitch platforms recognize so the port comes up as a matched 40G-LR4 optic.
The optic carries 40GBASE-LR4 across four CWDM channels at 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm, combined onto a single duplex LC connection over single-mode fiber to 10 km. A DFB laser drives each lane at −6 to +3 dBm, and a PIN photodiode receiver holds −12.6 dBm sensitivity per lane with a +3 dBm overload limit, for an average link budget of 6.6 dB. The module runs NRZ signaling per IEEE 802.3ba Clause 87, follows the QSFP+ MSA, INF-8438i and SFF-8436, and supports DOM across the 0 to 70 °C range.
Dell QSFP-40G-LR4 is designed for Dell Force10 and Dell Networking PowerSwitch platforms that accept 40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+ optics, including the Force10 MXL blade, S4810, S4820T, Z9000 and Z9500 and the PowerSwitch S4048-ON, S6000-ON and Z9100-ON families. The same QSFP-40G-LR4 string is also used as an ordering code by other vendors, so match the part number to your switch vendor and verify against the platform's transceiver table before deploying. If a fault is traced to a third-party optic, Dell may scope support to its own branded modules, so confirm your support terms alongside the compatibility guide.
Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Dell QSFP-40G-LR4 the same part as Cisco QSFP-40G-LR4?
No. The identical string QSFP-40G-LR4 is used as an ordering code by more than one vendor, so a Dell QSFP-40G-LR4 and a same-named part from another vendor are different orderable optics coded for different host platforms. EdgeOptic's Dell-coded compatible is built for Dell Force10 and PowerSwitch switches. Match the part number to your switch vendor and verify against your platform's transceiver compatibility table before ordering.
