Dell (Force10) compatible SFP-10G-LR Description
EdgeOptic's SFP-10G-LR compatible is a Dell-coded version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 multi-vendor 10GBASE-LR transceiver. SFP-10G-LR is the Dell ordering code for a 1310 nm single-mode 10GBASE-LR SFP+ with a 10 km reach. EdgeOptic programs the EEPROM for Dell host recognition, so the module reports as a Dell part on Dell and Force10 switches that accept 10G SFP+ optics. More than one switch vendor publishes an SFP-10G-LR ordering code, so specify Dell coding when ordering.
The transmitter is a 1310 nm DFB laser with launch power between −8.2 and 0.5 dBm. The PIN photodiode receiver is rated at −14.5 dBm sensitivity and tolerates optical input up to 0 dBm before overload. With a 6 dB link budget, the module covers 10 km of duplex single-mode fiber terminated on LC connectors. Optical performance follows IEEE 802.3ae Clause 52, and the electrical and mechanical interface follows the SFP+ MSA (SFF-8431, SFF-8432).
Line rates span 1.25 to 11.32 Gbps, so one module covers 10G Ethernet (10.31 Gbps), Gigabit Ethernet (1.25 Gbps) and STM-64 (9.95 Gbps), with the host port setting the active rate. Digital diagnostics per SFF-8472 report TX and RX optical power, module temperature, supply voltage and laser bias current. The module runs from a single +3.3 V supply, is hot-pluggable, and is rated for a 0 to 70 °C case temperature range.
