25G Fronthaul Tunable DWDM SFP28 10km Transceiver Description

Our EDGEOPTIC DWDM-25GFH-S28-10I-TUN is a multi-vendor compatible 25G Fronthaul Tunable DWDM SFP28 dual-fiber optical module designed for flexible high-density wavelength-division multiplexed mobile fronthaul applications. Featuring software-tunable wavelength selection across 89 DWDM channels on the ITU-T C-Band 50 GHz grid, this advanced transceiver enables dynamic wavelength provisioning and simplified inventory management for agile 5G and LTE network deployments.

The DWDM-25GFH-S28-10I-TUN module provides software-tunable transmission across ITU-T channels 17-61 with 50 GHz spacing in the C-Band, supporting 89 selectable wavelengths. The transceiver supports data rates from 9.8 to 25.78 Gbps, enabling compatibility with various CPRI (Common Public Radio Interface) options including CPRI Option 7 at 9.830 Gbps, Option 8 at 10.138 Gbps, Option 9 at 12.165 Gbps, and Option 10 at 24.33 Gbps. Host-based Forward Error Correction support enhances signal integrity across dense wavelength-multiplexed fronthaul links.

Our 25G Fronthaul Tunable DWDM SFP28 transceiver utilizes Monolithic MZM (Mach-Zehnder Modulator) Tunable TOSA technology for transmission and APD (Avalanche Photodiode) for signal reception. The advanced tunable transmitter enables field-selectable wavelength configuration, eliminating the need to stock multiple fixed-wavelength variants. The APD receiver provides enhanced sensitivity essential for reliable detection in DWDM applications. The module ensures a 16 dB guaranteed optical link budget, enabling reliable transmission over 10 kilometers of single-mode fiber. The transmitter operates within a wavelength bandwidth of 0.8nm (100 GHz) with launch power ranging from 0 dBm to 4 dBm. The receiver sensitivity spans from -18 dBm to -5 dBm with overload protection at -5 dBm.

The DWDM-25GFH-S28-10I-TUN compatible 25G Fronthaul Tunable DWDM module is a hot-pluggable SFP28 transceiver featuring duplex LC/UPC connectors as the optical interface. The electrical interface conforms to SFF-8431, SFF-8432, SFF-8690 (tunable transceiver specification), and SFP28 MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard SFP28 host systems supporting tunable wavelength management across multiple vendor equipment platforms.

The module incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time operational parameters including transmitted and received optical power levels, module temperature, bias current, supply voltage, and current wavelength setting. This diagnostic data is accessible via SFF-8472 compliant EEPROM interface, enabling continuous monitoring and wavelength management in mission-critical multiplexed fronthaul environments. Maximum power consumption is 2.5W.

The transceiver operates within an extended temperature range of -20°C to +85°C, providing flexibility for both indoor and semi-outdoor installations. Standards compliance includes IEEE 802.3 specifications. The module is CE marked and RoHS compliant.

Typical applications include software-defined 5G fronthaul networks, agile C-RAN architectures requiring dynamic wavelength allocation, DWDM-based fronthaul deployments with simplified spare inventory, and carrier-class mobile infrastructure where operational flexibility and reduced SKU complexity provide significant advantages.

Because our focus is providing top quality service, we perform comprehensive quality checks before delivery of our products. As a result, we conduct optical parameter measurements, tunable wavelength verification across all channels, connector cleanliness tests, and SFP28 transceiver EEPROM memory data validation tests to ensure reliable operation in your fronthaul network.
