EdgeOptic's ET5402-ER compatible is an Edgecore Networks-coded version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-40 multi-vendor 10GBASE-ER SFP+ transceiver. Edgecore Networks builds open-networking whitebox switches that run a network operating system of the operator's choice. This compatible carries Edgecore-coded EEPROM so the module is recognized at the switch port without manual configuration. Protocol scope matches an Ethernet switching role: 10 Gigabit Ethernet with Gigabit Ethernet support. Note that the standard ET5402-ER is distinct from the DWDM ET5402-ER-DW C-band variant.
The module operates at the 1550 nm long-wavelength window over duplex single-mode fiber and terminates in a double LC/UPC connector pair. It reaches 40 km on standard SMF and carries a 15 dB link budget, the loss allocation available to the span. Chromatic dispersion tolerance runs from 800 to 1000 ps/nm, which covers the accumulated dispersion of a typical 40 km G.652 fiber run. Transmit power is specified from −1 dBm at the low end to +4 dBm at the high end, receiver sensitivity is −16 dBm, and receiver overload is 0 dBm. Those figures match the original ET5402-ER, so the optical path behaves the same across the 40 km span and link margin calculations carry over unchanged.
