EdgeOptic's ET5402-ZR compatible is an Edgecore Networks-coded version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-80 multi-vendor 10GBASE-ZR transceiver. It ships with Edgecore-recognized EEPROM so the module identifies cleanly on Edgecore white-box switches and routers running OcNOS, SONiC, or ONIE. The Edgecore ET5402-ZR is a 10GBASE-ZR SFP+ optic operating at 1550 nm across 80 km of single-mode fiber, and it slots into any SFP+ cage that accepts a standard long-reach module.

The module pairs a 1550 nm EML transmitter with an APD receiver across a 23 dB link budget, which is the loss allocation that carries the signal over the full 80 km span on G.652 single-mode fiber. Transmit power runs from 0 to +5 dBm, receiver sensitivity is better than −24 dBm, and chromatic dispersion tolerance is 1600 ps/nm. The duplex LC interface accepts standard SMF patch cords, and DDM/DOM diagnostics per SFF-8472 report temperature, laser bias current, transmit and receive optical power, and supply voltage to the host for live link monitoring. This is the Standard 0 to 70 degrees C commercial build running on a single +3.3V supply.

Edgecore platforms are open Ethernet switching and routing systems running disaggregated network operating systems, so the working scope on this page is 10 Gigabit and Gigabit Ethernet transport across data-center interconnect and metro aggregation links. The 80 km ZR class is a de-facto SFP+ MSA design derived from SFF-8431, not an IEEE 802.3ae mode, so the reach figure follows from the link budget and the route's average attenuation rather than from a fixed standard distance.
