Extreme compatible 100G-4WDM-QSFP20KM Description
EdgeOptic's 100G-4WDM-QSFP20KM compatible is an Extreme Networks-coded version of the EdgeOptic 100G-QSFP28-20 multi-vendor 100GBASE-LR4 20km transceiver. It is a QSFP28 module built to the 100G 4WDM-20 MSA (100GBASE-4WDM-20) specification, reaching 20km over duplex single-mode fiber with a 9 dB minimum optical budget. The four LAN-WDM channels sit at 1295.56, 1300.05, 1304.58 and 1309.14 nm and terminate on a duplex LC/UPC connector.
The 20km 4WDM-20 reach depends on host-side RS-FEC RS(528,514) per IEEE 802.3bj. The MSA assigns that error correction to the host, so the target Extreme Networks port must have RS-FEC enabled. The IEEE 802.3ba Clause 88 LAN-WDM lane plan covers the 10km LR4 baseline only; the 20km reach comes from the 4WDM-20 MSA, not from 802.3ba.
The transmitter uses an EML laser and the receiver a PIN photodiode. Per-lane launch power runs from −1 to +4.5 dBm, receiver sensitivity is −11 dBm per lane and the receiver overload point is +3.3 dBm. The module draws up to 3.5 W and operates across the 0 to 70°C commercial temperature range with full DDM/DOM diagnostics. Beyond 100G Ethernet at 103.125 Gbps, the chipset also carries 128G Fibre Channel (Gen 6, 112.2 Gbps) and OTU4 (112 Gbps), so the same part covers Ethernet, storage and OTN transport on supported host ports.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does 100G-4WDM-QSFP20KM require FEC enabled on the Extreme Networks port?
Yes. The 20km 4WDM-20 reach relies on host-side RS-FEC RS(528,514) per IEEE 802.3bj, which the MSA assigns to the host rather than the module. Verify that FEC mode is enabled on the target Extreme Networks port before deployment, and check the Extreme Networks documentation for the port FEC configuration on your platform and software release.
