Extreme compatible 10302 Description
The EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 is a compatible replacement for the Extreme Networks 10302 10GBASE-LR SFP+ transceiver. It provides 10 Gigabit Ethernet over single-mode fiber at 1310nm, reaching up to 10km with a duplex LC connector. This module is validated on Extreme Networks platforms with SFP+ ports and is EEPROM-coded for recognition in ExtremeXOS environments.
The transceiver operates at data rates from 1.25 to 10.3125 Gbps, supporting 10GBase-LR (IEEE 802.3ae) and Gigabit Ethernet applications. It uses a 1310nm DFB laser transmitter paired with a PIN photodiode receiver, with a minimum link budget of 6dB over standard G.652 single-mode fiber.
This module is tested and coded for Extreme Networks switching platforms, including the ExtremeSwitching X-series, 5000-series, and 7000-series product lines. The transceiver EEPROM is programmed with Extreme-compatible vendor data, so the module is recognized without error messages or licensing issues.
The Extreme 10302 is the LR (Long Reach) variant in the Extreme 10G SFP+ optics family. The 10301 covers SR (short reach, 850nm, multimode, up to 300m on OM3 / 400m on OM4), while the 10302 handles LR (long reach, 1310nm, single-mode, 10km). An industrial-temperature variant, the 10302-I, is also available for extended operating conditions from -40 to 85C.
Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) is supported per SFF-8472. The module reports TX/RX optical power, temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage in real time. It is MSA-compliant per SFF-8431 and SFF-8432, CE/RoHS certified, and operates in commercial temperature range (0 to 70C).
All EdgeOptic modules ship with a lifetime warranty and are tested before dispatch. For volume pricing or project support, contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Extreme switches are compatible with the 10302 transceiver?
The 10302 SFP+ transceiver is compatible with Extreme Networks EXOS-based platforms that have 10G SFP+ ports, including the ExtremeSwitching X440-G2, X460-G2, X465, X590, X670-G2, X690, X695, 5320, 5420, 5520, and 7520 series.
What is the difference between Extreme 10302 and 10301?
The 10302 is a 10GBASE-LR transceiver for single-mode fiber up to 10km at 1310nm. The 10301 is a 10GBASE-SR transceiver for multimode fiber up to 300m on OM3 or 400m on OM4 at 850nm. Both are 10G SFP+ modules with LC connectors, but they serve different distance and fiber-type requirements.
Does the 10302 support Digital Diagnostic Monitoring?
Yes. The 10302 supports DDM (also called DOM) per the SFF-8472 specification. It reports real-time optical TX power, RX power, temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage through the host switch management interface.
Is there an industrial-temperature version of the 10302?
Yes. Extreme Networks offers the 10302-I, which operates from -40C to 85C for outdoor or harsh-environment deployments. The standard 10302 operates from 0C to 70C. EdgeOptic offers compatible versions of both.
